Urge to Isolate
Does anybody else ever feel like relationships, in general, can become too much to handle? I want to just toss everyone aside and go off the grid. I'm tired of hurting others unintentionally, and I'm tired of being hurt. No matter what I say or don't say, someone gets hurt. I feel very overwhelmed to the point where I really wish I could just leave everything behind and start all over
That's true
Relationships could be harder when you suffer with depression or mental illness, if they didn't understand your illness they will expect much from you
So give your self break , no need to isolate your self but don't push yourself to be liked and accepted , you are doing your best when you survive every day
Hug and much love

Thank you. I think one of the hardest things for me to deal with is the fact that they do understand my mental illness. They still expect more from me than I can give. Sometimes the expectations in and of themselves are hurtful, too. Example: my friends expect me to flake on the plans I make so they don't invite me out anywhere.. even when I'm really trying to change and begin following through. I want to spend time with them but they don't feel the same, so I figure I'll just give up
I do feel that way sometimes and feel like I'm a bad person who deserves to be alone, but I'm also lonely and desperate for validation because I hate myself and need somebody to like me. I want to be isolated so I don't get hurt or hurt anyone but I can't handle having myself as my only company and having to listen to my brain.
I really wanna isolate. Might as well, I have 0 friends and will never get a girlfriend anyway so why not
@RecoveringFlower
That's how I feel too. I'm a lesbian and sometimes I feel like LGTBQIAP folks have it harder. Not only do we have figure out if a person likes us, but we also have to figure out their orientation too. I've failed so many times and have only had one girlfriend - which was a short-lived relationship anyway - and I just want to start over completely. I can't take the pain of failure, regret, and other people's disappointment
I can totally relate to this. Not only in relationships I wanted to isolate myself, but also with the things I used to like doing. It takes me a long while to recuperate and regain my motivation and energy. I'm mostly away from my comfort zone, and the pull to go back is still strong. This has been causing me turmoils.
Despite that, I still try to talk my feelings out. A very few do understand.
I'm sorry if I cannot make my thoughts relevant anymore, but I hope things get lighter for you soon :) Being here in the community is one good step on sorting out your feelings.
Very relatable post :) I feel the urge to just run off and find myself a cave to reside in. Away from all human contact
@Lexloveslife that has been the worst thing for me is being unable to connect emotionally with wonderful people who are ready and willing to love me. As someone on here said, it is such a waste. I've had my heart ripped out more than once and all from my doing. The urge to pull away is so strong.
