Waking up

When I wake up I feel like a black void enters my chest as my body and conscious mind enter the real world again. Does anyone else experience this? It is such a physical sensation.

Hi there. Yes, I do feel this though I relate it closer to an anxious feeling than a dark one. When I wake I feel drowsy first, then as soon as I am conscious I tend to get this sinking feeling in my chest and stomach, like if you hear devastating news or something. It wakes me fully and is a rather gloomy start to the day. :( I haven't found a way to stop it from happening yet but I do try to cope with it after throughout the day.

@LilGreenBird. Yes, "sinking feeling" is a better description.

@LilGreenBird Exactly that, although it also feels like some icy feeling seeping into my chest, coupled to the sinking feeling. Very stressful in the morning.

When I wake up I get nervous and full of worry that I'm late and something bad is gonna happen. I over think.

@TreaureSeekers3 "Something bad is going to happen" is how I feel throughout the day.

@Ramkuma sorry to hear that. I know it don't compare to yours but I do feel the same. I know it's part of anxiety cuz I worry alot. I don't know if you do? Can you relate to that

@TreaureSeekers3 yes. Someone on here described it as being caught between obsessing about mistakes you made in the past and being intensely negative about the future. I'm in a constant state of tension at my worst.

@Ramkuma

I have similar sensations but is because of my anxiety. Not sure if you struggle with anxiety?

@Booklover95 Yes. Anxiety and depression go hand in glove.
