You can rant here
I know how it feels sometimes when you just want to rant, but don't know who to talk too or even if they will care. Well I care. You're not alone! Please feel free to say whats been on your mind lately, if you want someone to talk too or just want to rant away. I will listen.
I'm so tired of having a therapist that doesn't understand narcissistic abuse or even the more subtle ways in which parents can be emotionally abusive. Its like she goes out of her way to defend them. I don't know if she is a parent or has a good relationship with hers or recently lost hers or what... but oh my gosh! It's like I have to fight myself every time just to avoid snapping at her. She is just like my mother, defending everything my father does that makes me uncomfortable. Basically saying I'm perceiving things wrong as if parents can't be in the wrong. What is the deal with the whole "parents are perfect and they always mean well" crap? Not all parents mean well. And even if they do, it doesn't mean what they do / say isn't negatively impactful. I'm considering terminating in favor for a trauma therapist but there arent any therapists in my area that take my insurance. So I'm stuck with this CBT, victim-blaming therapist who constantly recommends I break my boundaries. I don't speak to my parents for a reason, even though I live with them and depend on them for things. I'm not obligated to talk to abusive, manipulative, and/or emotionally draining people. It's not rocket science but my therapist treats me like an edgy teen that's shouting "I hate my parents" when my parents literally make me want life to be over ASAP.
@Lexloveslife I'm sorry this is happening to you.
@BlueBetta
She just invalidated my feelings and symptoms completely today. Note to all therapists who read these forums: when a client tells you they don't feel up to something, don't fucking force them to do what they don't want to. You may just push them in the wrong direction. I've self harmed more today because of her words. Now I'm considering a more permanent solution. She doesn't think my problems are serious enough? She's going to regret that. I want her to feel my pain since she didn't get it the first and second time. 3rd time is the charm.
@Lexloveslife
Edit: My therapist invalidates my feelings today.
@Lexloveslife Don't hurt yourself to get back at her. That's not going to help anyone. Is there anyone you can talk to about this, or somewhere you can go? You won't have to be with your parents forever.
How did you search for therapists when you were looking? The psychology today website seems more reliable to me than google as far as finding places around you. You can sort by insurence too.
I know tumblr is kinda a hellsite, but there's this blog there called "open blog to my abusive mother". A friend who was in a similar situation to yours follows them, and it seems like it helps her. The person who runs the blog seems very understanding as well.
I hope some of this helps at least a little. You deserve a lot better than you're getting.
@BlueBetta
I'll look into that. I used psychology today as well. Looked for therapists close to me who accept my insurance and work with people with mood disorders. I've reached out to a different therapist and am waiting on a reply. I've already hurt myself but I appreciate that you care enough to tell me not to. I feel so hurt right now. All I've been doing for the last hour is crying in bed. It's not just my parents that she doesn't understand my position on. Yet I couldn't bring myself to tell her why I was frustrated with her today. I feel provoked and I just want to shut down. I don't care about my grades or my body or recovery anymore. She has made my depression and anxiety feel like exaggerations and I think maybe I just need to shut down completely. I don't know how to tell her how severe my moods get. I don't want to try telling anyone anymore. Im done.
@Lexloveslife I hope the therapist you contacted works out. You're not exaggerating when you tell someone how your feeling. It's your brain and you know what you're feeling best. She really shouldn't be telling you that you aren't really feeling the way you are.
I've completely lost the will to fight and am now making long term suicide plans.
Hi
I can
@TheRealJakeDYour a very powerful writer.
I feel your pain,I really do.
My heart aches for you.
So very sorry you are struggling.
Hope things get better for you.
I don't think I know what is happening to me. So scared. So isolated. Would it be better ???? No. The kids have seen enough death and horror. I called a hot line tonight. It must have helped. I am still here and typing on my phone. If I keep typing I won't do anything stupid and selfish. You won't. You are ok. Everyone has strife. You are not singular in these thoughts. You would never put your children through more horror. You are better than that. Eat something. Drink more water. Walk the halls. I feel scared to go out of this hotel room. I will get lost. I miss the comfort of knowing my way around. When do you know when people lie. I follow my gut but it has believed liars before. Focus...... eat. Drink, shower.....ok shower. Yuck hotel germ infested showers. Positive wash the stench of failure off. Helps you sleep. Think more clearly. Will try.
i feel like people want me to be erased or die
@dworth257 Do not say that.
Do not put yourself down.
Think more positively.
You say people do not care.
That is not true the membership at 7cups cares.
I care as well.
I hope this helps.
I found out I liked this guy for probably a while recently and started talking to him over insta. All was well until about a 2 weeks ago I started having dreams about said crush and getting freaked out cause this never happened before. And then this week my self-esteem went down the toilet and my depression came back after pretty much leaving me alone for the last 8 months. Though to be fair I have randomly started processing trauma with like no control. Not to mention the fact that I have cried like every night for 4 day straight thinking about past memories. One of my friends is even like he may like me back and he might but at this point all I can hear is voice of people in the past putting me down every time I even entertain the thought of him liking me back.
@OtteredOne I'm sorry you're going though this. It sounds really rough.
@wonderousSigns7
I'm scared that I will fail my year. It's the last year of high school and I am having a really hard time. I also need to pass the entry exam for med school, but I get so anxious about it and I have no motivation at all to study...
@LavenderWoods I know your scared right now.
But as you recover from your problem, and work on what you need to to get better,then the feer,will go away.
Focus on your goal. Youve madebit thus far, trust yourself that you got this! Fear is okay 😊
I'm going through a divorce that I don't want, and it's really taking a toll on me. She was my best friend and now I just feel so worthless. I feel like my whole life is just a miserable lie. I'm clinging on to hope as much as I can, but I feel so lonely. I don't know what to do. It feels like nothing has any meaning. She's the only person I've dated, so I'm so full of anxiety. I'm so close to rock bottom
@TheDanMan
I'm so sorry for what you're going through. My fiance just kicked me out and left me a few days ago. His name is actually Dan, too, so your post caught me off guard. We've had a lot of stupid little fights that almost always turn into something bigger and this time was no exception. He always dumps me after our fights, but it's never real. This time I took what he said to heart, packed my things, and left. Now he doesn't want me back. At least not right now. He won't talk to me but when he has, he tells me he loves me. I'm so hurt and confused, but this experience has shown me it's time for me to get my act together. I'm starting DBT, IOP, and anger management classes ASAP to try and improve myself. Both for me, and in hopes that I can show him that I can be better. If you need someone to vent to, I'm available.
@RogueAngel I really appreciate it. It's just a difficult time. I've got a decent life, but now it seems so pointless. I'm working on bettering myself too, though! Times can be hard, but all we can do is be hopeful and improve ourselves. Even if it seems impossible
I wish I wasn't too much of a coward to end it. I'm so miserable. I can't do this any more.
@tluper6491 I'm sorry thing have been so hard for you. You aren't a coward though. It's normal to be scared to die. There's nothing wrong with you for that. It's normal to want to be able to escape from a bad situation too. I hope things start going better for you.
@BlueBetta
I'm also too much of a coward to face life. I'm just a sad pathetic failure.
@tluper6491 Believe me when I say I know exactly what you are feeling. Just the other day I felt like a a complete failure, like I had failed my family and worse, myself. Feeling like you've failed yourself is one of the worst feelings to ever exprience. But the best thing you can do, is try your best to work yourself, take care of yourself. Make acheiveable short-term and long-term goals and try to accomplish goals. Work on yourself.
