Zoloft for depression?
Hi all. I'm wondering if there's anyone who has had experiences with Zoloft for depression. I was on it last year for my social anxiety and it helped a lot but I never noticed a difference in my mood. I finally built up the courage to talk to my doctor about my severe depression and she's starting me on a low dose of Zoloft. Just wondering if anyone has had success with this and how long I should expect to see results. Also, have you noticed any side effects? I'm a type one diabetic and my doctor said it may raise or lower my blood sugar - which is a little unsettling, but we'll see. I'm hoping to start feeling happy and "normal" again soon!
You said that you were on it before and it helped but didn't improve your mood? I'm confused as to how you could claim the medication was working but your moods weren't getting better considering that's a big thing for antidepressants. I feel like you need to discuss this over with a psychiatrist instead of an MD/DO. Psychiatrists specialize in medications and treatments of mental illnesses compared to MD's/DO's that focus more on the entire body.
I didn't explain myself properly. I meant that I noticed a difference in my social anxiety - I was able to talk to people more and didn't avoid as many social situations - but I didn't notice a difference in my depression symptoms. That's why I'm wondering whether it actually helps for depression and not just social anxiety.
I actually went to my dr asking for a referral to a psychiatrist but she said it wasn't necessary, that she could treat me. I'm still to anxious at this point to argue with her or demand other treatment so I want to see how this plays out first.
