From my own personal experience dealing with toxic people, it’s often harder to let go of them because there’s still moments that happen that remind you they are good and that you love being around them but often times they begin the toxic cycle once more. If it’s a friend you’re dealing with who’s toxic, the easiest way to remove them from your life is to block block block. Block them from social media’s, block them from reaching out to you, block them from talking to you in person. The toughest part about letting someone toxic go, is breaking the routine of talking and seeing them everyday. If this toxic person is a family member, keep things simple and sweet, if they ask you questions only answer the question, if they text you, only reply to the text. Though there is no rule saying just bc they’re family means you have to respect and love them as such. Treat people the same way they treat you. Find your inner voice, it’s scary to tell people how you truly feel but sometimes “you really hurt my feelings when you said that” is better than just laughing along.

From my experience, you just have to commit 100% to cutting them out. For example, I knew I wasn’t happy with my ex for a while but didn’t feel like I could leave him (I had tried and failed several times before). One day I found out he was cheating on me (again) and I realized that it was my opportunity to get the heck out of there. I blocked him on EVERYTHING and refused to let myself back down. I know this isn’t very good advice but if you cant straight up leave the person right now then wait until something happens and you feel like you can validate cutting them out of your life. Also, self confidence plays an incredible role with this. Talk yourself up and remind yourself that you are amazing and deserving. If you struggle with insecurities then I know this can seem impossible, but you can do it. Trust me. After you get this toxic person out of your life, your confidence will probably sky rocket especially if you remind yourself that you are important, you matter, you are strong, and every other self affirmation you can think of because I promise you they are true.

I usually get rid off toxic people by ghosting them, I block them from every social media, I delete their phone number and avoid any other kind of contact as possible.
