just needed to put this out there.
i feel like i'm not in a good place right now and my emotions are all over the place.
for a while now (2/3 year? can't pinpoint when it started.) i haven't had any motivation or energy, i'm tired all the time and i can't seem to find the willpower to DO anything. but i stay up till 2, 3am sometimes thinking or doing random s*** on the computer and i can't fall asleep, but end up sleeping in class the next day. my grades are going down and my parents aren't making it easier because of all the pressure to. many of my friends have their own problems and it can be a burden to listen even though i know i shouldn't be feeling this way. i can't tell them anything either because i don't want to add to their load. sometimes i've binge eaten and i feel awful about it afterwards. i try so hard to love my body and rationally i know i'm on the skinny side but i feel so fat and unfit most times and i really hate it. i used to write and read and do things but lately i can't enjoy any of them. i have considered cutting. it scares me that i'm thinking of this.
honestly idk if i'm depressed. do i even have a right to be depressed when there are other people going through worse? i feel like such a hypocrite because i tell my friends all these positive things but i can't find it in myself to believe them.
i don't even know why or how or when this all started and right now i'm just.. stuck.
Hello amiablePine6500,
I'm so sorry to hear that you are experiencing this *hugs*. It seems that some of the emotions and feelings you mentioned do link with depression and you may be interested in reading this guide https://www.7cups.com/depression-help-online/ to find out more about depression. Also, depression does affect a person's appetite and weight yet you may also be interested in reading this guide about eating disorders which may help you feel more comfortable with your weight https://www.7cups.com/eating-disorder-help/ . I'm glad you haven't hurt yourself, yet if you are struggling to cope with your emotions, there are other coping techniques available, such as hitting a punch bag, writing your emotions in a journal, or meditation - you can find more coping techniques in this guide https://www.7cups.com/self-harm/ .
Depression can affect anyone, and yes there are people going through horrible events, yet saying that you can't be depressed because others have it better, is the same as saying someone can't be happy because others are happier. And helping others is admirable, it doesn't make you a hypocrite - it shows you understand and can use your experience to help others. You can get through this *hugs*. Feel free to connect to a listener if you would like to discuss this further using this link https://www.7cups.com/BrowseListeners/ .
Merry Christmas! :D
Does your school have a counseling center by chance?
It sounds like mild depression (which can happen to anyone!).
Feel free to message me about this as well because this was literally my life sophomore year of uni
Good luck!
