let's face it, not matter what, you will never be good enough
For parents you'll never be good enough, nowadays parents pass their fears and insecurities to their children, they expect their children do be and do what they couldn't. There are 3 types of parents 1- Parents who don't believe that a counselor can help, 2- Parents who think that's for "crazy people", 3-Parents with no money to pay a counselor.
In the past people didn't go to see a counselor, but they used to confess their sins, they used to go to the church and have a very deep an emotional conversation with the priest. Now people don't believe that can help and seeing a counselor is just for crazy people. Now parents are rising very insecure children, children with more depression and disorders, but at the end they need to blame someone, but they can't accept the fact that they are failing as parents, so they want to believe it is their children's fault, so they hurt their children, because at the end those parents are really hurt too...
@PurpleAndBlueSunStar - I absolutely agree that there is still way too much stigma around seeking therapy, which prevents a lot of people from getting the help they need, but I have hope as I see more teenagers seeing counselors now than when I was a teenager (or at least it seems so, I have no data to back that up), and I hope that continuing to talk about mental health will continue to make it easier for people to find support and destigmatize it.
