overthinking and daydreaming

Hi. I'm somewhat new here at seven cups and I haven't made a thread yet. Idk if this falls under depression, but my mind is always racing. It's hard for me to go to sleep with nothing on my mind. I'm always analyzing, thinking back into the past, thinking ahead, I'm constantly thinking and daydreaming. I daydream to escape what I don't like. I daydream when I'm happy as well. I've daydreamed to the point where hours have past, and I don't even realize it. For me, I have to move around while thinking... that's how I get my thoughts going. My movement helps me to visualize better and make a better plot. I've hurt myself while going into daydream, because for a little bit I forget where I am, and I start jumping around, spinning, snapping my fingers and stuff like that; so it's easy to accidentally injure yourself when you forget where you are and what you're doing in *reality*. I'm not sure why I do it, but it helps me to get my energy out:)

Sounds to me like you're experiencing dissociation sad Have you thought about seeing a doctor? I don't want you to potentially put yourself in danger when there's something that can be done to help you.

Please take care heart

@Jem7Cups I've talked about daydreaming to my therapist, but I didn't go into much detail. I haven't been able to go to my therapist since lockdown so I may have to wait a couple of weeks to a month before that happens:/

@crystalxbonnet

Overthinking is linked to psychological problems, like depression and anxiety. It's likely that overthinking causes mental health to decline and as your mental health declines, the more likely you are to overthink.
