Hi there,

Thanks so much for sharing, i'm so sorry you feel this way.

I too know how loneliness feels. It's so horrible. What helped me was finding this site and talking to my GP. GP has given me some info on finding out whats about ( clubs and such) and also about finding the courage to go out on my own and making changes for myself. I'm now going back to college to redo some exams so i'm hoping to meet some like-minded people there :)

I know how it is to feel alone. You are not alone, despite what you feel. Anxiety and depression makes it hard to connect with others, but I've found that difficult that it is, it pays off. Friends are hard to find, hard to make, but contact with friendly people marks the beginning of the healing.

I've been alone for many days recently, but I've found some meetup groups that share some of the same interests, and even though it was extremely awkward for me to people around strangers, they were friendly, warm, and our common interest made it easy to talk to each other. I haven't gone back yet, but I'll be stronger for doing so.

Volunteering, finding meetup groups around hobbies, even going to public places where you're around people but not directly interacting with them (like a coffee shop) can be very helpful in distracting you from your loneliness. If you don't know what you like to do, you can experiment and explore. Just getting out of the house is very, very helpful. I know what it's like to stew all day, to marinate in sadness, isolation, and despair. I don't exactly see lots of people every day, but I go for walks at a beautiful park, and that helps too.

You can find friends here, and empathetic listeners. Have you checked out our many support (including loneliness support) groups here? There are also fun threads with games and icebreakers that offer a nice diversion. Truth be told, the connections I've made here both as a helper and as a person in need of help, have changed my life for the better in too many ways to count. There are lots of kind, caring people here.

Loneliness is a painful place to be, but like all other negative feelings, it will pass. I wish you well.

I can relate. I feel lonely all the time. For me it's worse at night, and sometimes it just hits me out of nowhere. I hate this struggle. I hate being shy and wish I had real friends or was in a relationship. Seeing your post was helpful. I guess it helps to know I'm at alone in my struggle. Let's keep on keeping on...

behind my skin is pain

questioning my existence and why I do what I do

my moms got a bad anger problem so the simplest things are just difficult

I feel the same way

i feel alone

and scared what will happen

but I hold on and try so I'm here to let you know your not alone
