Being comfortable in being alone

hi everyone thank you for reading I appreciate it

I haven’t had a solid good friend group since I was 17…and I’m now 20. I always now feel so out of place in any outside setting. Especially at work. My social skills are horrible and make people feel uncomfortable which is honestly the worst part! I don’t know how to socialize so get so silent. I felt so lost and fell in a super depressive episode cause of it. As of 2 years ago I got really lucky and met my partner. He’s amazing! I also have a family who are with me so I don’t want to say I’m completely alone. I just wish I had some friends you know? Being so socially awkward and not in a quirky way is so horrible. It’s like I’m unable to actually be my self around others

Hello! I am glad that you have found a partner and that you do not feel completely alone. Your desire to have friends is appropriate and normal. If you have been able to build a relationship with your current partner, I don't think you are that bad then, maybe what you lack is self-confidence. We won't be able to please everyone but it's worth trying, and the best way to improve our social skills is to be around people. Don't be afraid of failure but take it as an opportunity for personal growth. If we are not ready to take risks we will not be able to change things. Hope things get better, good luck!
