Like a stranger
I am divorced and I have two teenage kids, parents, sisters and a few friends. Even though I'm surrounded by people, I feel so lonely and can never talk about my struggles or troubles. I feel like a stranger in my own family. When I try to talk, I feel vulnerable, exposed and suffocated. I need to talk but can't and won't. What's wrong with me?

Hey there, glad you stopped by 7 Cups. Those are some difficult emotions that you are feeling and going through. It’s not easy to open up and so thanks for sharing that with us. These are not easy feelings to feel, I understand that. Those of us that are not used to opening up, do feel exposed and it can feel overwhelming, at least in my experience anyway, and there is nothing wrong with anyone’s feelings. Someone once told me, or I read somewhere, (I can’t remember, I have the worst memory ever), that no one can tell you that your feelings are wrong, that this would also hold true for how a person is feeling when they try to do something, that those are their feelings, they are valid, and that there is nothing wrong with them for feeling what they are feeling at their specific moment and time in their journey. Here are some links that I have personally found useful, just in case they might be helpful, I find the materials out here to be really, really helpful: https://www.7cups.com/help-managing-emotions/ & https://www.7cups.com/supportGuides/selfHelpGuides.php
Take care and sending good vibes
Thank you so much for your help and kind words.
@shyLemon880 🤗 you're welcome. How are things going today?
Much better, thanks. It feels good to communicate. 😊
@shyLemon880 So glad to hear things are better today! I agree about it feeling good to communicate.
@shyLemon880 Hello.. There is nothing wrong with you. When we feel we may be judged or not understood we rather not talk about our feelings. That's why these kinds of platforms are helpful, you need to talk to an objective listener who won't judge or try to influence you. You may come across friends or some people in your family who you start to feel more approachable over time too. But in the meanwhile you always have a world of support groups to talk to! Sending blessings and love your way..
