Please stop saying "don't depend on others to fix your loneliness"
So, so tired of hearing this sentiment. "Having more friends won't fix your loneliness" or "having a relationship won't fix your loneliness" omg stahpppp.
#1. It's patronizing
#2. It's dismissive
#3. It's actually really harmful, because taking steps to feel more connected to others and to have more support are in fact what I need to do. Also social anxiety is the root of my issue, so the fact I am actively putting effort into connecting with more friends, going out on dates, working towards getting a gf, etc. are GOOD things. I know what I need to get out of this hole. I'm just looking for assistance getting out. So don't knock me back into the hole with your bad/patronizing advice/commands.
this is like i'm hungry and need to eat a sandwich, but i can't find the sandwiches or they're too far away in another town, etc. and then someone comes along and says "sandwiches won't fix your troubles" b%&$* no. stop denying people's needs. gtfo

@Daydreamer47
You make some super amazing and valid points here
As humans, we DO need support and social interactions, and when those are lacking lonliness and depression and anxiety can follow. Its not our faults, it's natural. Friends and connections provide a multitude of therapeutic reliefs, from support during emotional distress, to positive and fun experience, to learning about others and how to improve ourselves.
I think when people say those sorts of things to us, its best to remember that they are not in our shoes, they haven't lived our lives, and they probably are just trying to help us. But definitely standing up for ourselves and letting them know that their advice isnt helpful, nor needed!
