Sitting in Your Feelings
Sometimes we feel incredible sadness and loss when dealing with emotions. Often when I find myself in a lonely situation I feel overwhelming sadness and all sorts of emotions that just wants to come out. As easy as it is to mask it in favor for happiness, to ignore it for tomorrow, sometimes the best thing we can do with these feelings is deal with it there. Whether it is crying it out or talking to a friend its best to deal with your emotions instead of putting them away and not getting proper closure for it.
From personal experience, dealing with your emotions allows you to better and clearly process why you feel that way and what the next steps should be.
Some questions I ask why do I feel this way? Do I have any faulty or unfair assumptions about the world or me? What are my next courses of action?
Understand that your feelings are valid and exist because you genuinely are involved and care about the issue at hand. Understanding that your emotions make you who you are is a great tool to understanding them and getting to know what you truly want.
Feeling a wave of sadness, almost always comes hand-in-hand when you're in a lonely situation. I sometimes catch myself when this type of sadness surfaces, but at other times, I tend to dwell on the emotion instead. It had always been hard for me to express feelings of sadness by crying, especially during the day when I'm not the only family member in the house; I sometimes feel a wave a sadness at work too, being triggered, I then notice that I probably having a frowning face.
If I still feel sad by the time I go to bed, I'll usually end up watching some video on YouTube that would always bring me to tears (I have a few saved in my list), just to let it out. I'm not sure if this is even the right way to approach it. The only other time that I won't be able to hold back my tears, are during conversations with my mother, but it's not because of feeling sad, but other emotions.
Recently, I've been working on changing my mindset. Working on it little by little, emotion by emotion, thought by thought. It'll be a very long process, it will require lots of practice and repetition~
