I feel like this may be kind of silly because I just moved in 3 days ago, but I just feel really lonely at college. My roommate is super nice and she even added me onto a groupchat with some others in our dorm but I haven

UPDATE: just found this again after 2 years lol and I don’t think anyone will see it but if they do:

I’m doing so much better in terms of loneliness now. My first semester of college was really rough because my school had horribly strict Covid guidelines and it was impossible for me to make friends but I ended up transferring schools and I have so many friends here now that I love unconditionally :) I’ve got more things to worry about now and I’m trying to work on myself in therapy but the things I was worried about in this post are not even close to on my mind anymore :)

Isn't it funny how life works out that way? I am glad things are better. @kviiiie

@kviiiie

I'm so proud of you :) as a depressed high schooler, not making friends in college is one of my biggest fears but the fact that you faced my LITERAL worst nightmare and came through it makes me want to cry tears of joy. ily.

It takes time to find the right spot and right people. Early college is hard for many. Keep reminding yourself that you can do this!

I completely know this feeling, I feel it's harder to make friends when you're an adult versus when you're a kid. Honestly, I would start saying hello to them when you pass them, or try to find common interest to talk about. I think if you know someone is just a big a nerd as you are on a topic, it makes conversation a lot easier. I find too, sometimes just letting people talk about themselves, and asking questions, can really help know a person better.
So maybe in the group chat post memes, or ask random questions , or share new things coming out, see if anyone responses.
You got this!!!

@Nyxo, I know the feeling. Maybe try greeting everyone with a smile and a simple hello. You might it to be a great ice breaker
