Antidepressants

im thinking of starting antidepressants, because I don’t see any other way to fix how I feel anymore.

I’m a new mom to a 4 month old. Breastfeeding.

Me and my husband are fixing our sex life since he was addicted to porn and it rendered our sex life nonexistent. (It’s now getting better steadily, still working on it.)

Because of the last statement, I’m terrified that if I start antidepressants, it will lower my sex-drive and we’ll have the same issue again. I want to help him quit completely and keep our love alive. Does anyone know which types have the least effect on libido? And that is also safe for breastfeeding moms? I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thank you

I think antidepressants should be an absolute last resort. I know it seems easier to put your trust in a pill and continue as is, but I don't think it would be the most rewarding. You have legitimate concerns over those drugs affecting your life negatively in an indirect way.

Recent studies have shown that regular aerobic exercise is as effective as antidepressants in reducing symptoms of mild to moderate depression. I would suggest trying this first, if you haven't already. You could knock out two birds with one stone here. You could naturally release endorphins to raise your mood and if anything it will increase both you and your husband's sex drive.

Best wishes, Cain
