Anyone here experience the "what's the point?" episodes?

OK, so here is what I mean by "what's the point?" episode. I two examples but this happens at least once a day.

1. I was planning a backpacking trip with a close friend and was excitedly trying to figure out which trail to hike when all of a sudden a very strong feeling of hopelessness and futility came over me and I said to myself, "oh, f_ck it!" and closed the browser. Somehow, I went from looking forward to a hiking trip and having fun choosing a trail to my entire being feeling that it's all pointless.

2. I get this when writing emails or responses to forum posts. I write a few sentences and when I'm forced to struggle just a little to find the right words, I have a strong and sudden urge to just give up and give in to the futility of it all.

3. On thursday I make plans to visit friends, on Friday I'm kicking myself for the decision and thinking all day at work about which excuse I can use to get out of it. Once the excuse has been explained to my friend, I retreat to my cave and wallow in feelings of self-hate and disgust.

So, I guess the general trend here is a sudden change in mood, mentality etc. that causes one to lose hope, self-destruct and retreat to solitude, self-pit and self-loathing.

I definitely understand what you mean @faithfulTriangle3777 sometimes I question the purpose of my existence too or why am I studying or reading this, but what helps me during those times is I think of the future, of what would happen if I didn't study or didn't do a particular thing and what would happen if I did. A lot of the times I feel demotivated then I tell myself you have to move on finish what you've started you know? and that remains as my motivation until I get motivated again.
