I'm not very good with advice, but here goes:
I was faced with a similar problem, though it was of a much smaller magnitude. A friend of mine has been saying hurtful things to me when they're annoyed. If your boyfriend doesn't understand or stop after that, the bad probably outweighs the good, and i would cut him out of your life. It doesn't sound like he caused your depression, but he could be a specific factor in it. Again, not very good with advice. I hope this was helpful.
