Does depression affect your decision making ability too ?
I am at a difficult phase in my career and unable to decide which way to go to . I make up my mind to do something and then after few minutes again start doubting myself whether that is the right choice to do. Its becoming terribly confusing for me to arrive at a decision on what to do. No matter what I decide , after few minutes I start doubting on whether or not that is the right thing to do.
Currently my self confidence is at an all time low. I have already lost 2 years of my life without doing much. Hence I wanted to know does this happen in depression ?

Well, I get like this a lot so yes depression does sometimes does effect your decision to do things.

Absolutely, the ability to be confident enough to follow through with a decision is going to be harder. Depression as well, at it's core is a percieved limitation in options. The more thought through risks we take, the more we act outside of our comfort zone, the more depression is pushed back as well. It's a bit like claiming your territory. So it's incredibly important to invest the energy and time you have into making those things that you really know you want into reality. If you aren't sure if you really want to go a certain path or make that choice, find something you do want to do. Start small, get a feel of what it's like to be confident about a decision and work from there. For example what you want to eat most for breakfast. Then follow through and evaluate how you feel afterwards. Move up from there and build that muscle. Reward yourself for the decisions you do make that are right, and try ones you aren't so sure about but are worth risking for the sake of exploring.
Ask yourself what you really want to be doing right now. Maybe you're sitting on the fence because neither option is really what you want. It's good you are reaching out for more options and information when you're stuck. Hope this helps :)
Of course it can. Our thoughts are wired to enhance problem solving and critical thinking.
I am going through this same thing - I can't seem to decide anything definitive and it feels as though my brain just does not want to work like it used to when I was younger
OMG yeesss! I judge myself a little less harshly when I can remind myself that depression is having a cumulative effect on my cognition, particularly executive function.
