How do I deal with feeling lonely all the time
I always feel so lonely and distant, especially at night, and whenever I try to talk to my friends and explain how I'm feeling they dismiss it and don't seem to care or understand. I don't know how to get rid of this loneliness or make the empty feeling go away.
@softwave Find new friends, and if not, you can try enjoying your solitude. There are a thousand things you can do to not feel lonely. What I do, is I watch my favorite TV Shows(Friends) or any other comedy show to lighten up my mood. It helps me get out of depression. You can also try playing online games(they always help me get my mind off of being lonely). Pursue a hobby or if you are depressed, try taking some time to meditate and do mindfulness exercises. You could also listen to some uplifting music or go for a walk. Get in touch with old friends or family members. Draw, paint or fantasize about another dimension that you rule and you can have all the friends you want in your imagination(I now it sounds pathetic, but if you have strong imagination, it can really help you pass through the hard times, it helped me). Read jokes and watch youtube videos. I don't want this post to be too long, but I just wanted to show you there are a lot of things you can do to keep yourself busy and away from the lonileness... I hope it gets better and this helps at least a little bit.
@softwave That empty feeling is really horrible, but I do think like the other here said that here is ways of trying to feel other things instead of that feeling. Creativity is always a really good way of expressing your feelings and at the same time explore more of them. Have you tried writing poetry or writing, painting in general? I hope you will find more understanding friends in the future and that you find a burning passion with creativity that might help you in the moment.
I am not really good at writing. But you can find my stories https://gaeducationalliance.org here if you are interested. I hope you will like them.

Why? Because I agree with your question and I'd like "the" answer too. I will go back and read some of what others wrote to you here. For me too, I'm dealing with LOTS of alone time. Some days are better than others, but alone time can get very lonely sometimes (sad face).
One thing I know is good to do - though I do not do it well when I myself am feeling lonely - is to get my focus off of me and how sad and lonely and depressed I feel at that moment. That could be anything from calling my downstairs neighbor to see if she's alright or if I can get something at the grocery store for her ... to ... putting on shoes and taking a walk around (inside maybe up/down stairs or outside better even if just around my building).
Or like a TV commercial we have here now says - 1. start an arts & crafts show, 2. set up (and then do!) a coloring contest, 3. look up a recipe and bake or cook a new dish (supper? haha or dessert!). And the last one I remember from this PSA (Public Service Announcement) is 4. call a distant relative - now that could mean like I call my grandpa's sister (the only of his siblings still living) or it could mean to call my first cousin - the one who lives the farthest away from me, geographically. Either way it gets me off the couch or off the computer/phone and hopefully interacting with someone else! Certainly though, I agree ... it is hard to have a lot of time feeling lonely.
