How do I tell my mom I want to seek help about my depression?

I already know I'm depressed. I doubt it occasionally, when I think I'm being too positive or cheerful, but most of the time I'm sure I'm depressed. I've been trying to start grounding myself in reality more, like job hunting, setting myself goals and the like, and I'm doing decently, but I want to feel more than neutral for once. I'd really like to get my depression dealt with, or at least on the road to being dealt with, except I still live with my mom, and I can't make an appointment with my GP without her noticing. I'm even more reluctant to bring it up with her because I've done so before and she didn't believe me, or said she would help me and put it off until I forgot briefly. I'd really like some advice on how to breach the subject without repeating past events. Thanks in advance.

@sleeeepy

Heyy smiley

I'm not sure if what I'm going to say would be of any help but I'm just going to say it anyway.

Sometimes parents don't understand how intent you are on your decision and try to persuade you into doing what they think is best for you. I've gotten around this by being stubborn about my decisions, while still allowing them to discuss about it, so they're happy that they tried to help you but you'll still get your way. I'm not sure if I'm making sense haha. So for your situation, I'd recommend that you try to make an appointment with your GP first, then inform your mother and tell her you're just giving it a shot to see if it helps, if it doesn't then she (mother) can always help you. Stand your ground, you don't have to be forceful about it, but you have to let your mother know that you're serious about this. Hope that helped and have a good day :)

@sleeeepy Hello, as @FriendlyNature256 has mentioned, do make an appointment as you wish and then inform you mother. If she questions the validity of your condition, maintain an assertive tone and explain that you would like to get better, and improve your mental health. It wouldn't be very purposeful of her to stop you, no?
