Is it ok for me to read the diary of a dead person? Should I allow someone to read my diary after my death?
I am not su ici dal, but death is certain for all, and I do maintain a diary for myself, so I need some advice. I have written nothing good about my parents or any relative. In fact I have nothing good to write about them. So, I can't ask them. So, I ask you.

This is a really good question. I’ve had similar musings over my own journals. Lots of darkness resides in those pages.

One aspect, if we’re not around anymore, does it really matter what anyone thinks?

Another is (and this is just my opinion and preference no judgement), do we want to leave behind a legacy of negativity and scorn? There’s enough of that in the world already.

I might give them to a trusted (real) friend and tell them to destroy it without reading. Again, just my own leaning. I suppose I feel that I write for me, not for anyone else. It’s my way of navigating my world, so it’s not for general consumption.

I appreciate you and your predicament. Hope this helps.
