Question about Effexor XR

Hi! I have been taking Effexor XR for about a year and I have noticed I have developed a trend of reckless behavior (not normally within my character). This has been concerning me and I am curious to know if anyone else has had a reaction like this to Effexor, or if the correlation between beginning the medication and the new behavior isn't related at all. Also, my doctor increased my dosage back in November and the behavior has seemed to intensify since then. Thoughts? Thanks y'all!

@honestBalsam4719 I Googled this.

The active ingredient in Effexor is venlafaxine. Mania, which could cause reckless behaviour, is a well known side effect. See, for example: Certain antidepressants linked to heightened risk of mania and bipolar disorder

That medication made my "blood boil" I became aggressive when I would miss just one dose. When my mom took it and missed a dose she went hysterical. NEVER MISS A DOSE

@RealTree3

interesting... I can't miss a dose or I'll start feeling really terrible. The withdrawal is pretty severe for me. I get dizzy and I can't think straight and my eyes start to shake and like, dart back and forth like I can't control them. It's very weird. Effexor helped my anxiety A LOT but I don't think it's done much for my depression. I used to have panic attacks and constant anxious thoughts and I haven't had that since starting Effexor.

I don't really like who I am on this medication and I'm afraid it's made me form habits that will stick with me past stopping it. I don't really know what to do... I don't want to try another medicine.

It helped my anxiety a lot too! However is it worth that worry of missing a dose and going into withdrawal? It sucks. Maybe you can find something similar with you dr. that doesn't do that.
