Second opinions
Ive been struggling to cope for the last 3 weeks with crippling anxiety and depression. i feel like im not going anywhere any more. ive talked to my mum and she says that i need my meds changed however my GP doesnt think so.
I guess what my question is.. should i seek a second opinion from a psychiatrist? i know it wont be cheap but surely they know a bit more than a GP, right?

A psychiatrist will definitely be able to help you out a lot more than a GP because they specialize in mental health issues. If you feel like you need one, go for it

I think it's better if you seek another opinion. Especially from a psychiatrist who is specialized in mental likenesses compared to a GP.
@TheLoneSparrow I also say Psychiatrist, they are specialised in the field, you might need to try a few different ones with him but once he gets the combo right they can help.
Also it sounds like you feel that's what you need to do so that will also take abit of the heaviness off you feeling you are in someones care that is a specialist in what you are dealing with.
I hope it goes well and you get the peace and help you need. And feel heard xx
Ps some of the meds have not so good side afdects and can take awhile before they subside, but keep open conversation with him so he can advise and maybe adjust the med combo.

A psychiatrist's opinion would most definitely be useful despite the cost as they are professionals on the subject and would leave you more informed than a GP. They would also be more correct in presrcibing you the right medication and the right dosage and would help in working out what medication is best for you.
I think you'd also need to consider how long you've been taking the medication. Not from personal expereince but I've heard that depression medication can have a negative effects during the first two weeks of taking them.
Hopefully everything goes well with you :)
