So like I've been depressed for all my teen years and at this point, it feels like it's become a part of my identity. I know i need help, but i just don't want it. I feel like it gives me a false sense of security somehow. What do you think?

Do not wait till your in your 40's to get help, you will waste so many years. Speak to your doctor speak to a councillor. Tell them what's going on in your life and head..

I feel similarly to you.

But for me being in mental hospital is more safe even.

Cause there everyone knows you are depressed or something.

Sometimes its really weird wanting to be depressed .

Maybe its just part of the depression.

Wish you feeling better

@iloveyou18- there is so much more emphasis on mental health, anxiety and emotional issues today. Living in this culture has to have affected you differently than when I grew up. THe fact that you are questioning that depression is your identity is a good one. Please dont give up on professional help. You deserve the insights that can free up the rest of your life. Congrats on being a listener too. Take care.

@iloveyou18- You are not alone here on 7 cups. If you have a member account there are a lot of great listeners available who can walk the journey with you. Always feels easier for me to have someone in my court - I wish the same for you.
