What does depression feel like?
Recently a person told me : "I don't understand depression. I mean it's more of just attention seeking ." So depression can mean many things to different people. Many people have their own definition or way of explanation.
It feels like you're trapped tbh like you know that you're going to be depressed in the next morning.
Like I'm so disappointed with my self every second of every day, it physically hurts. I just want it to stop.
It feels like a heavy weight on your chest so that you cant breathe and you know that if you move its it will just come down harder and crush you more but if you leave it, if will crush you slowly so either way you cant escape it
It feels like I'm a giant barrel full of holes. Emotions are pouring in from somewhere, but they leak out before I can even feel them, leaving behind an aching emptiness and a sense of inadequacy.
Numb. Instead of just feeling sad all the time, it hits a point where you don't feel sad, or happy, just numb. Sometimes it's like you're watching your life from the outside looking in. Your brain is trapped in a dark box and your body feels heavy.
@Yellowflowerpot I feel it exactly the same way.
Depression is like you are made of stone and dont want to move, but in order to keep going you slide on your skin and put on a mask to hide the world from your pain. Isolting yourself because u feel as noone cares enough to listen to you. To come back home to a home filled with loved ones and still feeling alone. It is like two chaines tied to your feet so that wherever you go it to will follow. Its a feeling that weighs deep on our hearts, and is the monster that cant be slain.
I'll phrase it this way depression feels like the state at which the angel and demon on your shoulders have stopped fighting because the demon has slayen the angel and is free to reck the place it has blocked out the Light and has tainted my pool of knowledge the way the dark one tainted saidin
to me, it feels like i'm restrained. and daily tasks, self care, school work, and social life are just out of my reach. i used to pull on the restrains are reach are far as i could to try and get those things, but i never could grasp them. eventually, i stopped trying, because i know there's no point. the ropes around me are too tight.
Depression feels like my mind is an ocean and I am trying to swim to the surfaces of it, with an iron ball attached to my feet. I know there is a brighter world out there ... but the ball just keeps pulling me under.

I just don't want to talk out my feelings. I wish I can. Maybe it's just a phase but this one is longer. Being mute for days isn't fun.
