What if you truly have no purpose?

Recently I’ve been asking myself what my purpose is.. I don’t think I have one. So what if you really have no purpose in the world? What do you do?

I think this depends on how you define purpose.

A lot of people tend to think our purpose has to be something grand, like becoming rich, having a boat, a big house and be the worker of the month in a big company. But that's a standard pretty hard to fullfil. As well as the idea that you have to change the world to have purpose.

Maybe your purpose isn't to do all that but instead to take in a stray cat and feed her daily. Or your purpose is to take care of your own children so they can change the world if they want to. Or maybe your purpose is to make sure to remind your friends to smell the flowers from time to time and scold your partner for not taking enough breaks through the day.

A purpose doesn't have to be a huge thing, it can be a lot of veeery small things.

I personally started to think of my purpose as "making someone laugh at least once a day". My purpose is to bring a little bit more joy into the life of adults who don't laugh a lot anymore. My purpose is also to greet strangers with a smile and to pet every dog I see on the street that I'm allowed to pet.

I think there's a purpose for every human being, society just made us believe that a purpose has to be big and life-changing or to bring in tons of money. But that's not the case.

Some people have a purpose on an ordinary scale and I think that feeding your cat daily while making your loved ones smile is just as wonderful of a purpose as any.
