What is something Depression keeps others from knowing about you?

Depression can be good at masking who you really are as a person. It can keep others away and selfishly keep you all to itself. What is something that Depression keeps others from knowing or seeing about you?

It keeps others from knowing what my true feelings are behind what I show to the public

It keeps others from knowing the person I truly am and not the facade that they all see.

Depression keeps me from doing things that would help me to live a healthier life style. For example when I'm depressed I completely lose my appetite so I don't eat, I usually exercise but I lose all motivation to exercise. To put it simply when I'm depressed I just don't want to do anything but wallow in my own sadness.

@ChrisBrown I know the feeling. When I get really depressed it's a struggle to even get out of bed. Then I just end up sitting around feeling more depressed because I know I could be doing something to make myself feel better (exercise or go for a walk) but just don't have the energy.

@Metzlk75

my problem is I don't know how to deal with it. I'm really bad at coping with it. It's the worst feeling ever and im not sure how to help myself deal with it.

I wake up on a day not too bright, the air not too cold, and think, "I will be okay. I will be free." Until depression walks with tired eyes and a sad smile and whispers, "Stay with me."

I wake up....

I wake up....

I wake up....

.....That is depression. It buries your hope behind your darkest thoughts so that others won't understand.

Depression and anxiety keeps me from letting people in. I cannot ever fully open up, and that leads to horrible communicating, which leads to inevitable break ups. I've ruined a lot of relationships because I'm afraid.

I'm not good at relating without using humor, even if it's inappropriate... I just joke, or make sarcastic remarks

It keeps them from knowing the real me. I hide behind a mask all the time. People run from me now what would they think if they really knew?

It keeps people from seeing who I really am. On the outside, all people see is a sad girl that listens to a lot of music. In reality, I love to laugh and have fun with my family and friends, but depression ruins that for me and a lot of people never see my true personality.
