What is something Depression keeps others from knowing about you?
Depression can be good at masking who you really are as a person. It can keep others away and selfishly keep you all to itself. What is something that Depression keeps others from knowing or seeing about you?
@CassieColemanHepplerLICSW I think it keeps people from seeing the real me in general. I put on a face and smile and act like everything is okay and I don't let people see a lot of the struggles I'm going through. There's a very raw and emotional part of me that only those very, very close to me get to see. It's not always a pretty side but it's real and it's me and not a lot of people know it exists.

Well i think it keeps people from seeing what i am really , people see me as an active , socialised person but deep inside i struggle everyday to get up & go to college / work. I can listen to anyone , be there for them and even doing an awareness about speaking out & mental illnesses but i still can't speak out or open up about how i really feel.

putting a mask on, not telling others how truely feel, not letting them know what is going on. like still going to work/school/event even when not doing well but putting up a front for the others so they dont know anything would be up.
Sometimes, I feel so isolated.

I love this post! It's so real and depression can make people wear tricky disguises!
Everything, I don't speak to anyone anymore at all
Talking in general.....I avoid conversations as much as possible..i don't pick up the phone calls of my parents friends i don't even talk much to my room partner
the only place i speak is Social media..that too via texting
Depression actually isolates you from everyone. You lock your feelings inside which leads to problems. Friends and family can help you get out of first levels of depression, but in higher stages it is advicable to consult an expert as apart from regular sessions, they also provide medicines that help in recovery.

I'll have to say that it's my true self that people will not be able to see. I'm always putting a mask on when I'm out in the public. Whether it be work, or with friends, or even family. Different masks for different situations. It is only when I'm all alone, either at night in bed, or when my parents had left the house for a trip, my true self surfaces. But yet, I still try and not to show it when I'm out. After taking a 5-day Leave from work because of the depression, a couple of days after I went back; one of my coworkers say that I look happy. I was smiling and laughing with others I work with. (The first day I went back, I guess I had a frown on my face and just depleted of energy). I quietly said that I wasn't completely back to my normal self yet and that it's just a mask I was showing~
