What is something Depression keeps others from knowing about you?

Depression can be good at masking who you really are as a person. It can keep others away and selfishly keep you all to itself. What is something that Depression keeps others from knowing or seeing about you?

Depression keeps people from knowing who I am. I am excellent at putting on a show. Depression makes people think Im reckless because I dont look both ways when I cross the street. They dont know that I simply do not value my life. Depression is seeing the world all in beautiful vibrant colors but with every step you take your immediate surroundings are plunged into greyscale. My friends do not love me, because they do not know who I really am. I am my mask, and depression is robbing me of ever being able to take it off.

Sometimes you don't feel the same way as another person. Its not so simple to "get over it" or "move on". Certain events or emotions trigger loneliness and unable to express your feelings because you feel others will judge you or put you down and simply cannot understand you.

How much I need them, how much I love to make them laugh.

How funny I can be! I used to be really good at making people laugh but now unfortunately my humor is known to be self-deprecation, still makes people laugh but not as much as before

@ravenclawmermaid I can relate. I don't want to sound big headed or anything haha but I use to make most people laugh all the time, which also made me happy plus it meant I spent most of my days laughing and collecting inside jokes with different people. But everything's changed now lol ♥️

That I'm actually really alone. I tend to make up stories about friends I don't have or about a party I did not go to but I saw other people go to. I have a tendency to lurk on snap chat and Instagram and every time I just get really sad. Mostly because I see people that I know living their lives and having fun, and I, am watching their sanctioned lives through social media.

Wow I thought I was the only one who didn't have any friends because I didn't want them to see my depression and anxiety. I don't feel so alone now.

Friends are supposed to accept you as you are. I have found that people don't do that. They are so judgemental. As if they are perfect. Any type of mental illness is not acceptable and that is unfair. They are afraid of us. They don't know or understand. It frightens people. Thats why we are stronger.
