hey there, I'm sophie, so I'm a bit insecure about it but I've decided to speak up about how I've been feeling for years to some of my friends. But actually I'm having problems finding the right time and words. I'm not a talkative kind of person and I have no idea how to start the conversation, do you guys have any tips? I though about writing a letter and reading it out loud but that won't do cause I'm crap at that too. Sometimes I think that maybe there is nothing to tell and I made up all this or have been sad for no reason at all.

I have trouble with conversation too so I've learned how to fake it. Usually this is roughly how it goes if it's just casual

Me: "Hi"

Person "Hey"

me "what's up?" (or "how are you?", whichever seems best)

person "[doing or feeling blah blah blah], how about you?"

Me "[build off what they said, respond appropriately]. I'm doing/feeling [insert thing that is honest but not irrelevant]"

After that, either that's it, you naturally keep taking continuing to build off each other's statements, or you try your best to ease into something you want to or need to say. If it is urgent, scrap the small talk and cut to the chase.

I hope this helps, this so far has gotten me through a lot of conversations with people I have a hard time talking to.
