low level but pervasive depression

my 1st therapy was at the age of five. i think my depression is the sort that is mostly just a completely logical reaction to the completely insane society we have collectively created - it feels so pervasive that it is just my groundstate of being, and as such i deal with it pretty well, i think. I can hold down a job mostly, i am friendly and interested in people, love to travel......and behind it all is a constant all-encompassing feeling that nothing means anything, or worse that there is a meaning behind everything but i missed the memo that everyone else got so i have no clue what it is

is this a thing for anyone else?

im sure this is true - but having it from as young as one can recall? going to therapy aged six and asking questions like "yes but whats the point, why are we here?" maybe this is common but people forget that period more easily?

no offence meant to what is probably honest heatfelt advice but saying "oh everyone feels like that sometimes" does nothing to address the question of why we are feeling it at all, whether or not said feeling is a natural reaction to the insanity of society around us, and if so what the actual poop do any of us do about it

Surely in a healthy society, we shouldn't be getting stuck on these questions in the first place, especially at 6 years old

It can be very frustrating to hear "everyone feels like this sometimes" in response to your concerns and feelings. I also have been having what I would call an existential crisis since preschool. I've been depressed for so long I can't remember being happy. I'm suspicious that such a thing exists sometimes. I'm not suicidal, but I didn't ask to be born and life makes me angry. Anyway, I've hear that this is sometimes called Persistent Depressive Disorder and may respond well to medication. I personally do not have access to professional help, but I try my best not to give up hope. I don't really know where I'm going with this. I guess I just wanted to say that it's sucks that your feeling like that, and I get it. Also, maybe try to hold onto hope that things will magically improve? I don't get it either.
