Brain games

Are you ready for this weeks challenge? This week we are going to challenge ourselves to strengthen our muscles. But not with weights or gym equipment. Instead with puzzles and games. Yep- our brain muscles. Ive worked many years with the elderly population and it was always important to talk with them about keeping their mind sharp through games, puzzles, cards. But its not just important for people of a certain age. We can all benefit from a sharp mind. Doing certain activities makes us use brain muscles not always triggered in our everyday activities. It keeps us alert and helps us keep those brain muscles strong. And there are so many fun ways to do this. Try a new board game or card game. When you have time do a crossword puzzle or problem solving puzzle. With smart phones its right at our fingertips but also can be good to do an old fashion game like chess, checkers, or sudoku.

So the challenge this week: Help improve those brain muscles by doing a puzzle, brain game or app each day. Are you up for the challenge?

@OrangeYouGlad68 I used to play Mastermind with my Dad. Such a great game. Thanks for bringing that one up. I might have to see if I still have it.

@AnnaKateMillerLCSW

this will be really good for me, especially this week it will, with so far being really spacy and dealing with alot of mood swings, so i think this will be a good thing to try and see if it will help, will find some on computer and some on phone.

@Autismaunt14 I know it's for our brain but I do see it improving moods. I think it especially helps if we are ruminating on issues. Bc when you do brain games your focus is on it and nothing else. Thanks for taking the challenge this week!

@AnnaKateMillerLCSW i actually have not done a crossword puzzle in ages, what a great idea^^ theres also a game where every person has to write as many words as they possibly can using certain letters in a given time. it is hilarious how youre brain wakes up when u have to mingle some letters real fast

@Ylina I think that one is called Boogle. And yes it's good to do with ppl or alone. I had a friend who would take words he saw while driving or on a train or shopping and see what words he could make out of it. Calmed him when he was in a crowd since he didn't like crowds. Hope you enjoy!
