Reasons To Stay Alive Project!
Hiya lovelies! :3
The Reasons to Stay Alive project is aimed to provide a sense of hope to people who may be struggling or even just need a pick-me-up after a tough day. Over the past few months, I have been collating reasons to stay alive! Seen as there are limitless reasons why not to end your life, this presentation will be updated in the future.
The whole point of me creating this in the first place was because I was having a tough time and found it a great, positive distraction from negative thoughts. Also, with the release of the new Netflix series, Thirteen Reasons Why I thought about how people experiencing suicidal thoughts feel alone and need something to keep them going. Some hotlines are useful but do not always provide us with the answers we need.

Loved the presentation. Congrats! It's amazing. After treating myself for a long time, I seldom have suicidal thoughts. Not that reading the presentation while having a crisis would keep me off trying something. Loved the links! But will be useful to come here while I'm sound just to remember these reasons.
@blossombreathe Some of the slides in the presentation are a little upsetting to read. They may be valid reasons for you, personally, to stay alive, but not everyone can relate to them. Any mention of a family is upsetting for me, and some things just simply don't apply to my life.
The following WERE my reasons for staying alive:
* My family. ...which I can't say that I have anymore.
* Meeting my long-distance boyfriend. Which... may never happen. He's married, for f**************'s sake.
* Watching the roses bloom each year.
* Starting my own family and raising children better than my mother could.
* Seeing what the future holds. (I no longer wish to know.)
That's pretty much it. I currently don't have anything to live for. I understand what you were trying to do with this long list, but I personally find the things you listed to be of little meaning. All I've ever wanted in life was a loving, supportive family, and I can never have that. As wonderful as it may be to have access to YouTube and all the chocolate I desire, it can never fill a void in my life. Ever.
Sorry to be so depressing here...
On a DIFFERENT note... Presentations like yours are wonderful to have around. When you're feeling really low, you can look back and read things you wrote when you weren't so down. You'll be reminded of the possitivity and optimism that you felt at the time of writing it, and that's wonderful. It gave me an idea: What if a person made a slide every day for a year? Each day, they would have to write down something positive, even if it's something so minor as "drinking warm tea." Any and everything a person can think of to stay alive.
I think that would be beneficial to anyone who tries it. Perhaps I will. Thank you for the presentation and the idea. <3
@BrokenShadow
Hi there!
I understand that some of the slides may not be applicable to everyone, however I have been collating personal reasons from the whole community, to allow people to see how the reasons to stay alive vary depending on what sort of life you've had.
No need to apologise! :c I find that if we focus on the small positives in life, it could be just what we need to hold on and keep going. If you're feeling suicidal here's a resource: https://www.metanoia.org/suicide/
I hope that you feel a lil' better soon, thanks for reading!

This is amazing! Thank you so much, I needed to read some of these. This presentation made me smile
