Support and Encouragement

Hello 7 Cups Members,

Firstly, I love you.I really, really do. Secondly, I wanted to take a moment out of my day to shed light on how heavy life can feel and offer some coping mechanisms.

Personally, I am extremely sensitive and feel easily overwhelmed by day to day obligations. I believe this is a part of my illness as well as my temperament. I am a content homebody, but I am certain most people do not go into a stressful tailspin because they have to take their dog to the vet. Some of us struggle with getting out of bed each morning, while others fail to clean their homes, and still others cancel previously made appointments. I am guilty of all of these things. Feeling that daily life is a burden is a common and disabling aspect of depression.

PsychCentral is one of my favorite resources for additional support. "Have you lost the pep in your step?" Click below to visit an article that will help you navigate the days where everything feels like an obstacle. You are never, ever alone. Support is never far. Recovery is possible.

Suffering is an intrinsic part of many people's lives. The best we can do is try to cope. I think it's also good if we try not letting our distressing thoughts spiral out of control. This can be done by being mindful and by trying to alleviate our distress and distracting our rumination through for example meditation, being with friends, comedy, music, art, literature, sports, contemplating nature, or whatever works for us. I also think it's good if we through self-compassion try not to feel that we are failures or abnormal because of our anguish and discontent. To be compassionate and give support to others who also feel distress is something that I feel is meaningfulto me. Suffering is part of life and part of the human condition, so we need to help one another through loving-kindness.

@peacefulTree,

This is the most beautiful thing I have read all day. I could not agree more.

This is a great post and a resource! Thank you, @blitheSun94, for sharing and for being a part of our community.

I'm wondering if not move it to the Depression Resources section of our forum, so it's be easier for members to find it. What do you think about it, @cristiana33, @Cadence, @Lyra, @LilyListens?
