This week was a bit different from other weeks. This was an open chat/guided-open chat of a series of Saturday morning (8 am EDT) discussions in the Support Session Room on the teen side. Feel free to join us next week!

Todays discussion, Depression and Current Events, was attended by only listeners (Im not sure why but no members participated in it xD)! This was an open-guided chat. I asked questions but other people asked questions as well.

Below is a summary of the questions as well as some of the responses (for confidentiality reasons, I chose to leave listener names off of the specific quotes):

1. Lets get this started with an ice-breaker! If you could travel through time, which time would you go to and why?

---- Id go to my dad and tell him to take care of his health. And spend more time with family. Id say 3 years

---- Well I'd go back to my 11-year-old self and tell her to brace up for the coming years and tell her to not trust people online because things pretty much went downhill from when I was 12

---- 2011 👀 back to when the whole gang was around and I was a stupid little kid not knowing what life was

---- Id go back to any year before 2018

---- I got another, I'll buy all those bitcoins

---- I would love to go the Renaissance period! Art at its finest!

2. So I think I'll ask a question first. How has your mental health been since quarantine and all? Because a lot of experts said that mental health was gonna get worse during these times so I'm just curious

---- It's... Better

---- Mine has been a bit of a rollercoaster xD

---- Its actually....way better. Mainly because I've been spending more time looking after myself and my needs. I've been practising self-care a lotttt… and who doesn't love doing their favourite activities! 👀

---- I think its better now, still kind of *** but in general, its getting better

3. I dont really know what to ask but, Im curious. I think music helps most of us cope with everything, why do you think it does? Like what makes it almost therapeutic in your opinion? 👀

---- Im not sure really. I think it's being able to relate to it or something

---- I think it lets people pretend for a while that they are not in the world and everything seems easy. But this causes maladaptive daydreaming, so I don't know. Like they're almost someone else

---- True that, music is the best escape from the cruel world... 👀

---- So according to a study the sound waves produced due to any music, in general, are harmonious to the ones produced by our body..

4. Once this is all is over, do you guys plan on changing something youve been doing wrong in your life before quarantine but quarantine made you realise it?

---- I think hmm many things tbh, I would probably stress on self-care. With all of the stress from school, and life and everything, I didnt have time to take care of myself and focus on myself more. But during quarantine when I finally had time to take care of myself more, I realised the importance of self-care and how it truly can help boost your energy a bit and make you feel better even in the slightest

---- Well I think my sleep cycle was one of the most obvious ones. It kinda came back to normal after a month of quarantine or so. School wrecked it pretty badly xD

---- I guess I have more time for me now and instead of taking time to think, I've been doing a bunch of different things and trying to keep myself busy because I don't really wanna leave myself with my thoughts

Thanks to all who participated! I hope to see you again next week. All are welcome to join -- please check the community calendar for a list of Depression Support Sessions occurring in the Support Session chatroom!!
