Hey, I'm new to all this. When I was a teenager I suffered from depression but since then I haven't really experienced that low feeling, until now. These past few months have been just a continual nose dive...not sure how to get out of it and it's brought me to a really dark place. I have plenty of friends...but I don't feel like I can talk to anyone. I have a lot of pressure on me and I'm nearly at my breaking point so I thought I'd give this a go. Not sure what else to say really but I'm hoping make some new friends here that will care to talk and listen.

Hi I'm quite new still and I'm trying to find myself around the site but keep getting lost lol. I'm a single mum of 3 aged 7,16 and 18 so they're all at different stages and I find it hard to split myself and give them all what they need. I've suffered with depression for at least 18 years, I think I may have had it in my teens too. I also have social anxiety and I'm highly introverted so 'just going out and meet new people' doesn't work well for me. I'm very isolated, Mum and brother are over 100 miles away, I have two real life friends but one of those also moved 100 miles away (maybe I smell?) so one real life friend who has her own life and a wife who doesn't really like me so I go through phases of staying away. Theres a couple of mums on the school run I will occasionally chat to while waiting for the bell but its usually superficial stuff and not regular as they have their own clicks. So I've filled my home with animals lol 2 cats,2 dogs and 2 rabbits

Hey everyone my name is Aqilah, I'm new here. I got emotional problems with my self and can't control well. I always have this thought everyday, every hour think of the same thing. Just can't stop the thought, can't focus on other things

@Laura Hello, I'm here because lately I've been dealing with lots of problems with my friends and family. I've been losing a bond with my friends that I wanted to last forever and some of my family are telling me that I should start losing weight because I'm not "skinny" and are pressuring me to go on diets and to exercise more but what they don't understand is that the reason why I'm getting more stressed out is because of what they are telling me. I feel like nobody even gets me, all I can do to make myself feel better is listen to music. I was even sometimes bullied at school about my weight and it made me feel really bad about myself it even came to a point were i started cutting and attempted suicide. But I was forced to stop cutting because my parents found out. But ever since I stopped self harming I've been starting to get dizzy a lot sometimes I feel like I'm gonna lose control of my emotions and just want to scream and throw or break everything around me. My parents are really disappointed at me at least I think that's how they feel. I cry myself to sleep every night thinking about how to deal with my life right now, I just haven't gotten the time or courage to talk to someone about it so I thought that coming here would be the best option.

Hi. I have really bad intrusive thoughts, which make me feel like I'm insane because I can't control them and they don't even seem to be mine. I cut a lot, and on Tuesday I even tried to hang myself. I just want all of this to end.

Any advice?

Um, my name is Kris, I'm non binary, and I made a poem, since I'm really only good at that. Not really, but whatever.

They will always say,
"You are not alone."
But where were they
When they failed to pick up the phone
You were screaming until your throat went raw
But apparently they couldn't hear a sound
It's the impact that kills you, not the fall
And I am plummeting straight toward the ground.

yeah, uh. Stay alive friends

I need a friend to share the pain with and to try fixing our depressions together...I've been depressed for 5 months now, I was very suicidal and therefore hospitalized in February for 6 weeks, which improved my condition a bit, but after that there hasn't been any improvement, but instead I usually feel worse again (especially my stomach problems), even though I have a psychiatrist who gives me medicine, and psychotherapist which I talk to once a week, and love and support from my family and friends (although few of them understand what I'm really going through)...I started feeling hopeless and suicidal again but then I found some good self-help books on the Internet, so I started reading them and will try the exercises...so if anyone else has the similar situation, and would like to simultaneously try those, text me, I'd really appreciate working together, texting daily, keeping each other motivated and giving support to each other because I think it will be much more effective that way. :)

@cofi94 You can get through this.

I've been treating myself for major depressive disorder for almost 3 years. But I took anti depressants for 7 years before getting depressed because I'm very anxious. Quit therapy last year in July and quit meds in January. Now I'm stuggling to be disciplined at working out, meditating and getting counseling in this page. Some days are still very difficult, but I've been coping like all warriors in this site. I also try to mentally engage with the tasks I perform at my job.

Quitting the meds was a real bliss in the beginning. Aside withdrawal symptoms, that can be horrible, I got improved focus and performance at work. No I don't drag myself to the office and get to work always on time. Pills were making me drousy and the psychiatrists I consulted with only told me to tolerate this. But this wouldn't be tolerated at work. So, I had to make a change against my doctor's opinion.

Seven years ago I became interested in Buddhist literature and phulosophy. That provided me a both interesting and useful perspective to apply to everyday life. I recommend starting with ˜Meditation for Dummies' and/or "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Zen Living". Theese books were life changing for me. I also recommend Pema Chodrom books. She's an american buddhist nun. Books like "Taking the Leap", "The Places that Scare You" and "When Everything Falls Apart" must be read more than once.

Hope I could help you. Take care. You'll find your path. And remember that the only way out of this is through.

@decisiveZebra6510

I admire and adore Pema Chodron. You can also find some great videos of her talks on YouTube. The boddhisattva path has helped me immensely in finding peace and healing while coping with depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. Om shanti🙏
