We want to get to know you!
I'm a person how isn't really sure of my gender right now but will call myself Finn for the porpoise of this thing. I live in with my older sister(17) and mum and dad and me(14).now my sister has been abuseve to me since I was in year 6 and I am currently in year 10, she punches,slaps ,spits in my mouth,broke my mums toe and hurt her back, made fun of me for my dyslexia ,threatened to break my legs on many occasions ,tried to strangle me and tormented my friends. So I avoid her as much as possible. I then have a mother that likes to pretend my family works and that she is a good parent but she has never told my sister off for doing anything to me, she also comes to me with all her problems from work, my sister or dad. My dad is never off the computer and never speaks to me and as soon as you try to get him off Facebook he say your attaching him and leaves the house. I do theatre to keep me occupied but it can get very stressful when all my parents do to help is pay for school, food and theatre. So I have to get myself to and from everthing, make myself dinner, do homework on time and go to bed at a reasonable time. At the moment I'm struggling and need help.
@Misosoup147 Welcome to 7Cups. It sounds like you are definitely in a lot of turmoil right now and have been for quite some time. Congrats on taking that first step to try and find some peace by reaching out to 7Cups. While reading your post I could relate to many of the things that you were saying based on my on childhood. I really could understand what you were saying when you talked about Theater and how it is basically an escape for you. I often thought if I hadn't have had Theater in my life when I did, I just might not have made it. I was able to be anybody that I wanted, anybody but myself. It was a distraction, an escape, an excuse to not deal with the pain in my real life. If you would like to explore some of these emotions that are causing you so much pain right now, check out my profile, leave me a message and we will work through it together. Until then, -stay strong.

@BubbleTeaAndNetflix000
I am so glad my post reached out to you. You are amazing!!! Keep being you and come talk to me if you ever need to!
I'm Sarah and live with severe depression. Sometimes I can deal and other times not so much. I'm finding that only people who have some kind of mental illness "get it" other people who do not have anything say "just cheer up", "get over it" or "what's wrong with you?"
Itll be nice to relate to people.
@sardoeshair1 In my work with my clients, I hear this very often. Unfortunately, most people are not understanding of mental health issues. Check out this link. It is a simple way to show people that dealing with mental health is nothing less than dealing with physical.https://maturenotdeadblog.files.wordpress.com/2015/06/o-helpful-advice-570.jpg
@sardoeshair1 I can feel you. It's not easy to just get,over it. Some of us dwell on it and need to cure it not get over it
@sardoeshair1 thats true. only few really understand
Hi I'm Rebecca, I'm new and I'm not 100% sure how all of that works but I've been suffering from depression for a while now. It has gotten to a point where I don't want to do anything, barely nothing brings me joy, I constantly want to isolate myself from my family, from my friends because I just don't want to be a burden to them. I hope that this site will help me get better and It will be a pleasure to meet new people too!

@Firebinder Welcome to the community!
Hi, I am new to 7cups and subscribed to the depression support community. I see that there are some group discussions that take place. I will try to fit at least one into my schedule, of course things do take time.
I had dealt with my depression and maintained a relatively positive state by engaging in lots of physical activities. As a result, I found that I craved nutritious foods, and always ended up making friends because of they physical activity I participated in. I'd have to say that for me, the physical activity managed my anxiety which leads to heavy depression symptoms. Physical activity managed all of my problems it seemed. But, my physical activity choices are now quite limited, which has resulted in a persistent depression that I can't seem to overcome.
I really am trying, but with my limitations, it's been an unbearable process. The physical ability losses came with loss of identity, loss of friends, loss of so much, I don't have much social support at all. So I joined this site, because I am still trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Hanging in there,
Penny
