@sarahburrito

i am new here but am very excited to meet others that can relate with my major depression. I cant leave my house, ok I can but just dont have the desire or will to be around people. I am not to the point where I cannot walk out the front door. I still go to the store once a month. Are used to go every week. Going to work is absolutely miserable. And I have just cut back my hours because I cannot function at work. Just kind of giving a background of me interested in what your type of depression is. Or is there a type of a depression?

Hi I'm new here on 7cups. Still trying to figure out how everything works. I have severe depression and anxiety and have recently started taking a mood stablizer for bipolar II. I'm hoping being a part of this community will help me feel some much needed support.

@BrokenAngelxx

work. Ugh! I too am having a hard time. Its honestly unbearable. To be honest I have told my boss that I am cutting back my hours. More than likely Im going to be fired. I have called in sick two times last week and two times the week before. I can guarantee Im getting ready to see my pic papers any day. With that being said I can honestly say I have a lot less stress anxiety and depression not being there. Lets see what we can do together to get ourselves through this

Hello, If you met me you wouldn't guess how depressed I am. If I have the weekend off I stay in bed for the majority of it. I cant seem to find any enjoyment in anything. This is no life!!!!!

@MEH58

Hello and welcome! I recently told friend about my depression, they were shocked to find out because on the outside I make everything look "normal", but it's exhausting.

I hope we can both find some support here!

@sncs0907 I'm sorry that people assume that just because you have depression that means you would look a certain way. I personally get hurt when others say things like that. One of my (no longer) friends had said that I "didn't seem that bad" but after they found out that I had been hospitalized for mental health struggles they opened up to me about they're depression and anxiety. It's like I wasn't "sick enough" for their standards. Sorry, not to ramble about myself. I'm just saying I understand, and if you were hurt by your friends comment I think you should try to speak to then about it.

@Indistinctaurora

I think in this situation she felt bad that she didn't know what was going on. She said I should have told her sooner and that she's there for me if I need to talk. I appreciated her support and concern. I am one that doesn't let a lot of people in and I know I have done a pretty good job of "hiding" my depression and anxiety. I don't want to burden or worry people, which I know may not be the best way to get through this, but sometimes I find it easier than explaining everything.

I'm sorry about your friend as well. It' too bad that they couldn't even try to understand and be there for you.

@sncs0907 Sorry I misunderstood. It sounds like you have some empathetic friends, and I'm glad you're taking steps to take better care of yourself (reaching out to people, while hard or feels selfish or imposing, is really good for you). Also, thank you for your concern. I'm doing better in the sense that I'm setting better boundaries and doing my best to find people who share similar values to mine.

@RachManatee I am so sorry for the emotional abuse you experience. I think that having outlets, like 7 cups, is a really good first step. Have you tried mindfulness to help when you feel self harm triggers? Also, maybe look into DBT skills. I understand, I lived with emotional abuse from both parents until I left home at 17. I am now in therapy for it. If you can, maybe try to find support groups in person for what you're going through, or therapy (you would have to have your mom get involved, so be careful with this one), and outlets to help you make friends (school clubs, athletics, library activities maybe? Depends on the library in your community). You are not alone, and if you do your best to connect with others in healthy ways, you'll find people who love you and accept you for who you are.
