I think I suffer from depression and I know anxiety. My whole entire life my parents only fight and talk about money. They hit me and they swear at me. They swear at each other all the time and hit each other. My mom is a acholic she drinks everyday she put bottles of wine in her purse daily and hides them and since she is the only money supporter in our family we cant send her to get help. My dad is a drug addict who sells and uses everyday. My parents complain to me about money and my brother has cancer and they blame it on me. When my brothers hit me I get in trouble. Just one minute ago my brother hit my and pored a drink on my my dad kicked me and told me to get out. He also always favorties them everyday. He treats me like garbage and I feel like I am. I have told my school and social services they where no help at all they just made it worse and now they always make fun of me for it. They also dont buy food I can eat since I am vegan. The social services told my mom to get me a therapist and she never did. Everyday when she is drunk she hits me calls me names like cunt bag, fat ass, psycho and a lot more. But I also love her when she is sober she is a good person and nice to be around. But I just really dont know what to do anymore.

I cant really say that I feel you but I can say that I understand what you are going through. Ive been in the clutches of depression for, I guess, 6 months and its really hard when your parents dont even what their child is going through. My family is not exactly a family. Its falling apart because of my unfaithful father. In my country, beating their children isnt exactly abusive, its common actually(shocking, isnt it?). I love my father a bit more than my mom ‘cause my mom is the whole cause of my suffering. The thoughts of leaving my mom and staying with my dad filled my mind. But I didnt want to betray her cause she had bad childhood and later a bad husband and she had enough. My mom is a manipulative person and she brags about how my big bro is successful and all that fun stuff. My maternal family all think so low of me and to add up to that she told them that Im a gold-digger(my moms a housewife and my dad earns lots of money) since I told her that my dad is much better than her(in caring scale). Because of her, Im starting to fall into BDD(look it up if you dont know). She is such a big fat liar cause you know what she did when she saw me and my younger cousin on the bed, playing something? she freaking gave me a disgusted look and pulled me up and pushed me out of the door, she freaking thought that I, her daughter, was seducing my cousin. Like, what the hell woman?

With the all the ways of succumbing to my moms wishes and distancing myself from my dad, Im still hanging.

For a long time now, Im a big believer of the saying, Everything happens for a reason.

ps. sorry for the long reply.

pss. Lets help each other. Friends?

psss. Its my first time coming out of my shell and telling whats going on when actually Im all smiles offline.

I just joined 7cups today. I've had depression for 12 years now and this year I was diagnosed with anxiety. I've been to therapy before, but it's expensive and I'm hoping to find a better alternative here.

I'm Hyun, and suffer from depression among other things. Been going to therapy since I was 11 and still on that path. I have been diagnoses with BPD, social anxiety and all such fun stuff. I have a horrible memory and talking to ppl is generally difficult for me. I just tend to keep to myself these days.

I used to have a big support network of friends but lost it over the years. Just here to concentrate on something else than the crap in my head, hopefully.

Hello. I just joined 7 Cups about an hour ago. I've just made an appointment to begin one on one counseling here locally after struggling with my depression for the past 3 or 4 years. I've been on a string of seemingly ever-increasing antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds, along with sleep aides that are 'supposed' to help my insomnia... I haven't slept in almost 48 hours now, so obviously those are knocking the ball right out of the park.

To make a very long story short, I had a really awful childhood, rife with abuse: but in 2015/16 I was hospitalized and given a week at most to live. To the shock of my doctors and the apparent dismay of my husband, I managed to live, but not without several lifelong disorders and medical issues as a result. My husband left me while I was still confined to a walker... He was absolutely the love of my life and in no uncertain terms told me it would have been easier and much cheaper had I just died like I was supposed to...

So, to say the least the last 3 years have been a whirlwind of fear, anger, anxiety, alcoholism, isolation, pain, and devastating depression. It's almost like some wretched, twisted sense of survivor's guilt. Almost constantly thinking that I really should have just died like a good girl. Like I'll never come close to getting back all that I have lost. That the woman I was perhaps did perish after all - because who I see in that mirror everyday is certainly not her.

Hello, I joined 7 cups a while back but recently finding my way back to the site. Ive been having little hope in anything working lately but thinking maybe this might help a little.

I returned from a study abroad in a literal mess of myself. Im not a large person and I lost 20 pounds due to anxiety. The entire time I was abroad I felt like I was losing my mind with my boss gaslighting me, demeaning me because Im a young woman with better ideas. My supervisors wouldnt pull me out despite my anxiety depression and health issues. They just told me to stick it out. Im from a lower socioeconomic background and couldnt afford to buy a new plane ticket home early.

I graduated college but it all feels hollow and I cant seem to see it as a success. Im staying with family now in a town a few hours drive away from where I went to college and where all my friends are. Ive been alone for two months trying to save enough money for trips to see people but I dont start my job for another month yet. Im overwhelmed with loneliness and the stress of trying to start something new, apply to other jobs when all I feel is no motivation and no love (except from my cats, they help).

Im considering medication for depression and anxiety but know how to get help. Considering therapy but cant afford it even w insurance. Thanks for reading and sharing your stories.

Hi, I'm Jay (they/them), genderfluid, ace, been struggling with depression for almost a whole year now. I joined 7 Cups a few hours ago hoping to find someone to talk to, some support. My family doesn't really know about this issue and thinks it's just related to stress from school (I'm a junior): they would probably just consider that as attention-seeking, knowing them. My small group of friends hasn't really mentioned it since I tired to confornt them about this a few months ago, so I was kind of alone in this. Hopefully I'll be able to make some progress here frown

Hi Jay, I'm Briana. My daughter is your age. She came out as bisexual at 13, though really she's shown almost no interest in guys. She has a couple of really good friends who are also gender-fluid... Is this the issue with your family that's been hurting you?

If so, I just want to tell you that you've done nothing wrong by being who you are. You are living life with a level of self honesty that is so very difficult for other people to attain. No one, and I mean NO ONE has the right to say that honesty & love in any form are wrong. Love is the only thing that is real in this world, and honesty is sadly becoming a thing people use when all else fails.

Hang in there and you can hit me up anytime if you want.

Both my gender identity and depression are issues Id like to discuss about with my parents, but unfortunately they are still convinced that depression=mental illness and genderfluid=confused so... I dontreally have anyone to reach out to for support. I think my parents are putting special emphasis on the words ‘our daughter, ‘she or ‘her everytime they refer to me and it always makes me wince a little bit, because that really makes me uncomfortable when Im not feeling like a ‘she. I never came out explicitly to them, but pretty sure they got Im not feeling their ‘daughter 100% of the time. About depression, yeah, I tried to talk about it like ‘Im feeling really tired and anxious lately and got a ‘youre just too stressed out in response. Great. So I just kind of gave up, which is why I am here, to see if I can do something about both issues.

I'm sorry your parents can't reach acceptance. I fervently hope that some day they will understand that your self-identity doesn't change who you are to them. I wish I could give you advice on how to make them see you for who you are... But I can't understand where they are coming from. My daughter binds and keeps her hair short; and when she came out to me, it was just a conversation about her first kiss (really just a peck on the lips) When She told me it was with a girl, it made absolutely no difference to me. I was just thrilled that she felt comfortable enough to talk to me about it first. It does not change the beautiful, quirky, talented, loyal and empathetic person she has grown up to become. Who she chooses to love doesn't change anything for me. It only means that she is smart and empathetic enough to realize that love is not confined to a specific gender, race, religion, class ,etc.

The same goes for you. How you identify yourself does nothing to change who they've raised you to be. All of your shared memories; the happy ones, the heartbreaking ones, your triumphs and losses- those are all the same experiences you've shared since your birth... For all of your qualities and even your faults (nobody is perfect) they love you and have loved you through it all. Perhaps they just need reminding of that.

My parents think that the LGBT community includes mentally ill people and confused teens who have been influenced by those around them or who do it for attention. My mom once said ‘I dont understand why anyone would want a different gender identity. Its so unnatural and ‘Can you imagine how terrible it would be for a mother to discover that her daughter has become her son instead? and Ive never mentioned it again since. About depression? Once I was really stressed out and tired and snapped at my parents when they yelled at me for failing a test, shouting something along the lines of ‘Then maybe Im just worthless or ‘I know, Im the biggest disgrace in your life!. I was tired. Like, really tired of everything. But the only answer I got was a ‘Oh, what are you, suicidal now? Do you need a psychiatrist to take care of you? so calm and cold, it almost scared me. Ive been afraid to speak to them about my depression since. So, Im kind of alone in this. I dont know what to do with them and with myself.

Hey my name is Isla and I've been struggling with depression for as long as I can remember. Though that might be because most of my family is severely depressed including both of my parents and the fact that out of me and my 3 siblings half of us has a severe learning disability (that's diagnosed.) But it's good to finally join a group of people who i can truly relate to.
