Tinnitus is when you experience ringing or other noises in one or both of your ears. The noise you hear when you have tinnitus isn't caused by an external sound, and other people usually can't hear it. Tinnitus is a common problem. It affects about 15% to 20% of people, and is especially common in older adults.

Tinnitus can be caused by excessive noise or by an illness (also through side effects of ototoxic (but otherwise needed and beneficial) meds)..

Tinnitus can be accompanied with hearing loss too and can be very debilitating.

Thanks for this post. It seems to get brushes off often.

Mine has become more serious and overwhelming recently. I have three sounds going on at once, a wirling sound that fluctuates, a high pitch one that is similar to microphone feedback, and then my pulse - like a finger is taping on the ear plugs while on my ear. All at the same time.

I had tinnitus for years and nothing helped me. The only way to get rid of it was to buy hearing aids. At first, I was against them, but it bothered me so much that I decided to give it a shot. I found this hearing aid store, where I bought them. They turned out to be my lifesavers. I only regret that it took me so long to try them.
