What is a disability?

A disability is any condition of the body or mind (impairment) that makes it more difficult for the person with the condition to do certain activities (activity limitation) and interact with the world around them (participation restrictions).

The 4 Types

There are 4 sub umbrellas for disabilities these are… (Bare in mind some disabilities overlap and will fall under a few umbrellas)

- Intellectual

- Physical

- Sensory

- Mental illness.

Intellectual Disabilities

- Cerebral palsy.

- Epilepsy.

- Vision impairment.

- Hearing loss.

- Speech and language problems.

Physical Disabilities

- Spinal cord injury.

- Amputation.

- Multiple sclerosis.

- Spina bifida.

- Musculoskeletal injuries (eg back injury)

- Arthritis.

- Muscular dystrophy.

Sensory Disabilities

- Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) Autism spectrum disorders are a lifelong developmental disability. ...

- Blindness and low vision. ...

- Hearing loss and deafness.

Mental Illness - Disabilities

- Anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and phobias.

- Depression, bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders.

- Eating disorders.

- Personality disorders.

- Post-traumatic stress disorder.

- Psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia

I have cerebral palsy hydrocephalus leaggly blind. And I want to cry 😢 right now because I don't feel like my physical needs will be met tell my day time staff comes in

@JoyfulUnicorn I have (Duchene) Muscular Dystrophy , made me wheelchair bound since it's a progressive one who knows what might happen next. But really I've never really complained about this only thing is that it makes me restricted and I have been struggling with loneliness. My physical condition is getting better in a way . If anyone reads this can pm me if they need to talk about muscular dystrophy or any other disability. I'm.open for conversation.
