CKD Support
Hello everyone, I would love to see if anyone else wants a Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) support group. I have been looking and cant quite find a group that fits this description yet. If anyone has recc. I would appreciate it. I was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease about 4 years ago. I am just looking for some peers that would understand and be able to offer advice.

Hey there! I personally don't have CKD but I work with CKD patients on the daily and talk to a lot of them regarding their experiences with ckd. CKD is a super complex disease but nephrology has come a long way in which there are so many interventions and medications that can prolong renal stability your entire lifetime! CKD presents a unique experience and challenge for each person, some people will have great control with a couple of medications, other times there will be sudden unexplained decline. However with good medical follow-ups and adherence to medical regimen I'm sure you'll be able to get the reign on this condition. A lot of the recommendations with CKD in terms of lifestyle just correlate with a healthy style so perhaps take this as a "sign" to live and start the changes you never got to start (as many people do)! I've seen in my patients, that the faster they assimilate to the norm of having ckd, the faster they bring life to normality again! I'll tell you that there are an incredible amount of people who quite live with CKD being in the background. Other than 2-3 more doctor visits for surveillance they do great with interventions and are able to live with this condition mostly being silent. Of course this doesn't apply to everyone but it doesn't hurt to hope!
