Diagnosed endometriosis externa
Hi! I just got diagnosed with endometriosis externa. For the longest time I knew that the pain I was feeling wasn't normal and I went through *** until I finally got properly diagnosed. Now the doctors want to put me on a progesterone pill that has loads of bad side effects and they still can't give me a guarantee that I'll get better.
My question is, has anyone tried any naturopathic remedies or changes in their diet - anything that can help me heal my condition naturally? Also any books, articles, personal stories, anything that anyone can share to help would be greatly appreciated!
@loyalStrawberry8069 Hi there! I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis and the challenges you've faced. It's understandable that you're looking for alternative options to manage your condition. However, it's important to note that naturopathy is not based on scientific evidence and should be approached with caution.
Endometriosis is a complex medical condition that requires proper medical attention. Conventional treatments, such as the progesterone pill recommended by your doctors, are often based on scientific research and have been shown to be effective in managing symptoms for many people. It's true that medications can have side effects, but it's important to weigh the potential benefits against the risks.
Naturopathic remedies and dietary changes are based on anecdotal evidence rather than rigorous scientific studies. While some individuals may report positive experiences with naturopathy, it's important to remember that personal stories don't reflect broader patterns or scientific validity. Relying solely on naturopathic approaches may delay or prevent you from receiving the most effective treatment for your condition.
If you're interested in exploring complementary approaches, it's essential to discuss them with your healthcare provider. They can help you evaluate the available evidence and guide you in making informed decisions. It's also crucial to keep an open line of communication with your doctors, sharing any concerns or questions you may have about your treatment plan.
While I don't have specific books or articles to recommend, I encourage you to consult reputable sources such as medical journals, trusted healthcare websites, and organizations dedicated to endometriosis. These sources can provide evidence-based information and help you make well-informed decisions about managing your condition.
Remember, your healthcare provider is the best resource for guidance and support in navigating your treatment options. I wish you the best on your journey to managing endometriosis and finding relief from your symptoms ❤️
I agree with the above post but wanted to add. See what your doctor recommends, but for me an "anti inflammatory" diet helps. Basically lots of fruits and veggies, not a lot of red meats, and avoiding a lot of processed foods. I'm not super strict on it but I especially notice after eating processed foods that I get really bloated, painful and etc. It helps but it's not enough that I wouldn't need other treatments.
Unfortunately most of the treatments do have considerable risks/side effects and they only really treat the symptoms, not the disease itself. Personally, I was so miserable I always said it's worth a try. Anything the doctors threw at me I would try. I definitely recommend doing your research so you know what things to look out for- but also remember to keep an open mind. And advocate for yourself- if a treatment isn't working for you let your doctor know- if you can't tolerate it let them know and request instructions for safely discontinuing. (I've had doctors insist I continue therapies that were not working and giving horrendous side effects.)
Personally synarel (the nasal version of lupron) worked really well for me and I was on it for a long time- and there are truly horror stories about this med. I'm so happy I gave it a try!
Also just wondering- were you diagnosed through surgery? Did they do an excision? The relief after my surgery was monumental and lasted about 5 years. This is the only way to actually treat the disease instead of just the symptoms.
