It’s been a Day
I have hEDS, and I’m undiagnosed but pretty symptomatic of OCD.
I use capital-D “Day” for when it’s really rough, it’s been a Day
i had 4 classes today
when I woke up, my wrist hurt, so I KT taped it
first hour, I have ceramics, so that’s pushing on clay and stuff and putting pressure on my wrist
that made it hurt
second hour, I have chemistry
we were doing a lab experiment today. The teacher doesn’t just teach chemistry, she has other classes, so the equipment tables were set up for multiple experiments. Smt smelled weird, like burning. I had seen some kid messing with a lighter, I thought maybe it caught something. Then it started smelling sweet. We have natural gas in the rooms for the Bunsen burners, so I thought maybe there was a leak. That built up in my brain until the teacher was talking and I had to look around the room to make sure all the gas valves were closed. The one closest to me was open. That’s horrible. OCD isn’t supposed to be right. I got up while she was talking, turned it off, and sat back down. I was staring at her and waiting for her to stop talking so I could tell her about it, just in case. When she was done, I went up to her and told her about it, and she said thank you but it’s ok bc the main gas valve was shut off, so it couldn’t do anything. It still smelled like gas though. I talked to my dad later, it would’ve been all the extra leftover gas that was in the pipes before she shut off the main, out just hadn’t gotten out yet.
Third hour, my photophobia (sensitivity to bright/flashing light) kicked in. We have digital classroom boards, like a big TV, and I couldn’t look at it. It was too bright. I copied my notes from my friend.
Fourth hour was good
photophobia got me again on my way out of school. The whole main hallway has square tiles on the floor and square brick walls, so it makes a grid. When I walk through it to get to the buses, it all starts looking shaky and strobing like an optical illusion. I don’t know of anyone else that gets that. My legs also started getting fatigued, since my fourth hour to the door is basically the whole length of the school
on the bus, I was wearing a super warm flannel, and the heat was on, and my heart is icky all the time and I’m bad at internally regulating my body heat and stuff, so I started getting really hot
my shoulder started hurting, so when I got off the bus, I took all the stuff out of my bag and carried it in my temporarily-good arm instead. My bus stop is also pretty far from my house, since it’s a really crowded route and they couldn’t afford to add a closer stop, even though there are a bunch of ppl that live over there??
and all of that on maybe 5 hours of sleep. Not horribly little, but enough to wake up sore and get fatigued easier later
I know it sounds like I’m just complaining, but I genuinely had a rough time today. It’s hard to tell all of it to ppl that I actually know, and to get them to listen to it all, so I just want someone to hear.
@thebendygirl
Complain away.
You had a horrible day.
Sure it's natural to want to get it all out.
I hope tomorrow goes much smoother 💖

@Amanda84 Thank you for being here, it means a lot 💛
@thebendygirl
A pleasure 💜

Doing better today. I cracked my knuckles too much, so my whole hand is sore now. I have one of those stuffies that you can heat up, I got it from my parents for my birthday. It’s an Axolotl. It’s helping.
My dear, I'm sure it was a tough day for you. I saw your post while crying from the immense pressure I'm under these days, but I felt a surge of strength and belonging when I read about your day. You are truly incredibly strong, and we all struggle in different ways, which is why we support each other. The things you go through daily, which someone else sees from afar, don't feel as difficult as you do. But I know in reality that they are hard, and that you are a fighter, patient, and always able to overcome life's obstacles. All the best to you, and we are here to share and support each other🫂💙
