Just when things were going right...
So, a little backstory so you know exactly how overwhelmed I feel here! This last year was crazy hectic for me, and a lot of stuff happened. I am in my mid-twenties, recently married, going back to school and just beginning in my career field. I had a lot of amazing things happen and was finally beginning to feel like I was creating a life for myself and my husband...and I'm sure you can guess what comes next.
I was diagnosed with a progressive form of narcolepsy that would render me unable to work full-time in about twenty years, as I would be too tired/asleep more than awake. Just as I was beginning to get a handle on that, we both come down with a really nasty bug...a bug that lasted for over a month in my husband. I took him to the hospital 3 days ago when I couldn't bring down his fever, and was bowled over when they immediately hospitalized him. Not only do they suspect he has an infection in his heart and/or spinal cord, but they suspect that it got so deep due to an autoimmune disease that was never diagnosed.
I am overwhelmed. The insurance from his new job has yet to start, and mine is barely enough to cover my narcolepsy. He will need so much specialized medical attention, and I have no idea where I will get the money for it! Worse yet, how am I going to be able to be there for him later in life if we are both falling apart? The thought of the future terrifies me right now, and it is beginning to really take a toll on every aspect of my life. It says something about the level of stress when even a narcoleptic cannot sleep for more than five hours over a total of three days
Any advise? Words of wisdom?
Anything will do. I just need to know I am not alone here
I'm so, so sorry this is happening. I don't know what to tell you about the insurance/finance issue, but please know that you're not alone. Everything will be alright in the end, and if it's not alright, it's not the end. Sending hugs your way.
