Spiraling since appointment

I just turned 22. A few weeks back I had my first appointment with an adult doctor for lupus. I had stayed with the pediatric group since I was 13 cause I really trusted them. I’m doing well from a medical standpoint but I’ve been feeling extremely depressed since I had the appointment. It really served as a reminder that I’ll have this disease for the rest of my life. I also had to talk about some painful memories when going through my medical history. It’s been such a struggle. I’m barely eating, irritable & very anxious. I don’t have any excitement for ye future. I just applied to 3 universities as a transfer student having a 4.0 GPA. It just doesn’t matter to me. I can’t shake this feeling.

@JackR2499 Hello Jack, I am sorry you are struggling. Forever can be so overwhelming. I try to live one day at a time and sometimes it becomes five minutes at a time. So much easier for me to deal with than forever. I wish you well.

@JackR2499 It must be very hard for you to suffer so much with lupus and with attitude you found out when you had first appointment with your doctor for adults. Yes, it can be very depressing and saddening discovering out that you will have your illness for rest of the life especially if you are still very young. I hope that you will find a lot of emotional support here in disability community on 7cups.

Hi, I’m really sorry I did not reply. I wasn’t notified of your replying to me. I only saw it now because I received a notification that my post was upvoted and clicked on it. Thank you very much for the kind words. Again, I apologize.
