30 day chronic illness challenge

November 16th, 2015

I don't have any chronic illnesses, but I think this might be fun for those who have them. :)

Absolutely.

Day 7 My biggest realisation

My symptoms have a physical cause. I'm not paranoid, I'm not imagining it, I'm not lazy, I'm certainly not stupid. I have a condition which causes fatigue and there are things I can do to take back control and start to recover.

Day 7 In 5 years time...

I may still need to do daily physio, but my energy levels will be similar to those of a person withou chronic fatigue. I'm still pacing myself to keep the condition under control, but I get through daily life without undue difficulty.

For my hearing loss, if hearing aids improve as much in the next 5 years as they have in the last 5, it will be barely noticable. Sending positive vibes to all the clever researchers out there!

Day 18 y'all!

Have I become a better person? I'd like to believe so. I believe I have grown as person. Im less self centered and I'm trying to not take things for granted.

I believe I am not yet my better self. I have so much work to do but, I'm working on it.

I'm trying.

Day 9 Alternative therapies

I tried Hopi ear candles, but no amount of them stopped me being deaf lol. I was in denial about my deafness at the time and hoped some 'blockage' would clear.

I'm a strong believer in nutritional approaches, my health, mood and stamina are all better when I eat well.

Finally, I couldn't live without mindfullness. There is a growing weight of research confirming its benefits, so it's definitely not my imagination.

Day 7

I guess the biggest realization I know now is just how much your Thyroid gland controls things in your body. Before, I didn't even think about it that much, or realized that it controlled so many bodily functions and hormones and can make you feel just terrible and sluggish if it's not working properly.

Day 19!

How I feel about the future?

It scares me a bit 'cause I fear that I won't have one. So, I try not to think about it much.

Day 10 Little things that make life easier

Doing less each day hhelps me do more in a week.

Working over the Internet is more flexible, so I can manage my energy better

Support, here at 7 cups and from my amazing partner.

Actually, they are not little things, they are big things!

Day 20...

I have met a couple of disabled people, but none of them were cancer survivors so, in a way it helped but in other it didn't.

Day 11 Why....

I've never focused on this question, some things just happen.

Both conditions have a genetic link, so there is not much I can do about it. My genes made me everything I am, the good things and the challenging ones.
