Am I Really Doing my BEST?

I havent been to school in 6 1/2 weeks. I wake up everyday, only to not be able to get up until 12pm ish. I need 15 hours of sleep, its a mess to say the least. Im failing two classes, almost 3, and only have 4 classes. Everytime I try to do work I get frustrated and end up just shutting down. Quarter ended last Friday. Pretty sure all grades are due/permanent tomorrow. Im 6 1/2 weeks behind in two classes.

Anyone else having the same(ish) problem? I feel so stuck and alone its honestly an indescribable feeling. Has anyone gone through this? Found a solution? Currently 16 so dropping out is not an option in my state. I need a break to be honest, just not a possibility it seems.

Dear one, I can relate to your situation in that my daughter went through something similar. I don't know your level in school, but in her case - she was about to graduate 12th grade and should have an honors degree. She had a mental and emotional shut down and missed too many days to graduate. Just before it was too late,we transferred to an online high school and her credits went with her ( almost all anyway). She finished at her own pace and without the pressures of getting to school every day. she then emrolled at community college, later to university and graduated with honors. It took longer, she had some mental health and low medications along the way but in the end she made it. You can too. I don't know if this is an option for you, but don't lose hope. The fact that you had the courage to ask for help here speaks to the fact that you want to succeed. I'm sending a big virtual hug.

Good question. Online schools work differently than traditional schools and they are different in other ways. Her school allowed her to take fewer courses at a time so she had more time to complete the work for each one. There were due dates for assignments and tests, but she was so much more relaxed that it was not as hard to get it done. she could also sleep late and work any time. she did get mental health treatment too, so as the other person said - try to get at the root of the problems. In her case, things just resolved over time. again, i wish you well.

I can definitely relate, my senior year was terrible because I lost all motivation and will to go to school; I was in denial that I was going through depression and struggling with anxiety. The great thing is that you're acknowledging it now, which is the first step to making any positive changes. I would personally suggest that you get counseling to help you sort out whatever's got you feeling this way, or at least find someone you can talk to; to me it sounds like you might be holding a lot back emotionally that's hindering your progress. Speak to your teachers, work out a plan to make up whatever work you've missed to catch up, and just take things one day at a time. Nobody is perfect, we're all human with complex emotions that sometimes get the best of us. Just be patient with yourself, be honest with yourself, and most importantly be forgiving of yourself. I really hope you get caught up, I think you're on a good track and I believe you can do anything you put your mind to!

One more note about moving forward.. I, as her Mom was able to help . My daughter did go to school counselors and teachers to try to work out a plan to graduate, but it was too late to qualify. It took her enormous energy just to do that and she needed my help. I personally researched the online options and saw that it got done- and I had to pay for that school as opposed to free public school. I hope there is someone who can help you get through thr steps to a good solution. It is tough to do alone when you are already suffering.
