Working 11 hours with narcolepsy
I’m a graduate student. I also have two jobs. I work as a teacher full-time and then I work at an afterschool program until 6:30+. I have two kids under the age of three years old. My husband does not work and has not been very good at keeping up the house work. On top of that he’s very bad homework and I have to sit there and watch him do it for him to finish his work. As if he’s a little kid. He insists he hast to finish school though. But he doesn’t have a job. And he’s not doing the best at what he needs to as a father. The kids are in daycare and preschool. So he has plenty of time to be doing these things, but he plays video games all the time. Last time I checked his monitor it says he spends about 60 hours a week just on video games. Sometimes more. Yes, we have a huge house and he doesn’t about 6 to 7 hours cleaning. But he’s not doing the way that I would want him to and he’s not doing exactly how I would. He also does have an internship that he does part time for the same after school program as me. Am I over thinking this? Am I putting too much pressure on him? I just expect a clean house. He’s the one who let the housekeeper go!
P.S. He does not spend 6-7 hours a day cleaning. But our house is 2000 ft.² so he should be doing more than he does do. He says he spent about 2 1/2 hours cleaning or more. But there have been days where I spent 10 hours cleaning he said. He does do all of the grocery shopping. And we do have several acres of land to work but he doesn’t really do anything. It’s just overgrown, ugly other than the front yard…. I have narcolepsy and have to not throughout the day for about 20 minutes at a time. Works as a teacher because I nap when they go to lunch and dinner at recess. Nap is a relative term because more like rest with my eyes closed. And I had to have coffee on a schedule three hours exactly. But I make it through the day without medication and that’s a pretty big deal. I mean my husband actually get along really well. I’m just wondering if I’m having too much thought process when it comes to the cleaning part. I clean for about two hours a day as well in the evenings when I’m not working on my graduates work.
@CatNoirmom It sounds like you're carrying an immense load, balancing graduate studies, two jobs, and parenting young children. It's completely understandable to expect support and partnership at home, especially if your husband is not working. It's not unreasonable to want a clean house and more involvement from him in household responsibilities and parenting.
this is exactly what I wanted to do for a while. I talk to him about it several times but nothing has really changed.. his parents are coming home soon and we need to be able to get our own place because we’re staying at there’s while they’re on their mission. But they think we should stay a little bit longer so we can talk this out and work things out before we leave. It just seems really weird to me, and I’d rather have my own place and have a relationship stronger.
You have all that going on & are staying married to him because....?
If the situation is as you described it, then custody of the children would be easy to get. Sounds like he's not even that interested in being their father to begin with.
