Hey everyone so I have a brain injury and sometimes I have these meltdowns where I get mad and upset and I can’t control my anger and due to this reason since I live with my family my brain tends to read my parents body language wrong and I end up in these meltdown episodes bc I don’t know what is going on. Does anyone else feel this way bc I am the only one who does also I need to learn how to control my anger more at home with my family since I am 22 and I can’t let my brain injury be an excuse anymore for the reason why I have meltdowns.

Hi @Clairebear233. I am very sorry to hear about your brain injury. While I can't relate exactly I do know it is hard sometimes - I've had over 30 concussions and multiple TBIs so I do understand how frustrating it can make life. Have you talked to a doctor about these meltdowns? Sometimes it could be a result of the brain injury or it may not be. I also tend to read my parents body language wrong. We are humans so we are going to make those mistakes. Some of us just do it more frequently than the others.

I do get why you want to learn how to control your anger. I thank you for being vulnerable and sharing with us. At times it may be rough trying to figure out how to cope. I want to share this with you - you are still going to have meltdowns because you are human. Grown adults from age 1 second to 100+ years old get upset from time to time. While it is perfectly okay to set goals and expectations don't expect to be perfect because you won't be. That's just human nature.
